Hi Peter,
Nice to see you posting on this forum! The trackday at RAF Odiham was good fun, the circuit is made up of runways and coned chikanes. This was only the 2nd track day the organisers have done there. The runways are in active use by squadrons of Chinooks, and are in very good order. We got there for the drivers briefing at 8:30 am. Glenn had already arrived and was unloading his amazing Southern GT. We didn't get on track before around 11 am due to a quite thick fog, lowering visibility to around 100 yards. Once on track, it was great fun. The circuit has a long straight where we hit about 160 before slamming the brakes on. Round the back, it has some chikanes and twisty bits and not many places to overtake. Once we got to know the lay-out, we found the circuit very well suited to our kind of cars. The day had a relaxed format to it, overtake either side, but just behave gentleman-like to other track users. The inevatable pratt in a Porsche was the only fly in the ointment. The t****r tried to race us, late braking into corners trying deperately to force his way past, flashing his lights, weaving behind us, but had neither the skills or power to pass the Viper. This happened towards the end of the day, but up until then, it had been an excellent day. We will be back for more in the summer. I think 29th July 09 was mentioned as a day where they were going to pull out all the stops, have air displays and other things, like a slightly smaller scale Wings and Wheels day, but also to include track action. I'll be back for more in the summer. Highly recommended!
