Coyote 5.0 in SL-C

Any of these motors can make massive amounts of power..Chevy, Ford, Porsche etc. They're either adding more air via displacement or a compressor of some sort. All about preference and finances. I'd love to see the development of the 5.0. Been a long time coming for Ford. When you make a mustang that looks like a Pinto, Maverick, or Escort with ground effects..well it's tough to earn that respect back.

Those headers are kind of a big deal. I was reading about those some time ago and what you see here is the result of many iterations and testing. The story goes that the engineer that developed these headers made them in is home and then brought them in for testing.

Info about them can be found on this page: 2011 Mustang GT Coyote Engine - 5.0 Mustang & Fast Fords

The new engine is supposed to be smaller and lighter than the old mod motor as well. I don't think the heads are as wide...

That will be a welcome difference. Recent developments (i.e. the "mod" motors) were to make the engines physically larger, so replica manufacturers often had to engineer larger engine compartments. That having already been done, at least it won't have to be done again!!

Sort of a two story play on the old "tri-y" design, which IIRC was quite successful. I kinda like the look  !

Cheers, Doug!!

I don't know if you guys realised that the engineer in question who made the prototypes at home is none other than fellow forum member Adam Christian, he of the recent MKII restoration team.

Recognise his welding anywhere!

PS I like this engine - a lot. It's what Ford fans have waited years for and I think they will sell a lot of them, even to diehard GM crate engine fans...in all kinds of chassis. It is certainly the answer to the need for late model engines in 'kit' or self build cars.

Any idea what the motor weighs?

What does your flux capacitor / wanker motor weigh, and how much hp does it generate?
As is, with turbo, intake/exhaust manifold it should weigh ~275 lbs. If I get the aluminum side housings and lighter rotors I want, it should be about 200 pounds even.
Easy 750-800 hp on 91 octane and ~1000 hp on race gas, if it doesn't blow ;)

Fart fart fart BANG!

Nothing...:uneasy:
Lighting your farts again?

Just throw this image in your sig and then when anyone tries to put down rotaries you can just point.

Edit: Damn, just remembered you can't put images in your signature.

And that was the ONLY time it won anything (LM) in it's short racing career. On most other tracks it was uncompetitive..

Do you know you can pick up a late model RX8 here in the UK, with low mileage and one owner for around $5k? (Please also remember that our cars are at least 1.5 times more expensive than yours) and that there is a good reason for this?

The RX8 is a great car. Everything about it is better than a Z4 and an S2000 except for one major thing.

I very nearly bought one a month ago because I could not believe what great value they are. Then I did some research.........

Do a little more research, you'll probably find someone makes an LSx swap kit for it :D

I'm not a fan of the Renesis engine either. Put a Coyote 5.0 in the RX-8, that would be different. Of course it would handle like a pig, but it would go like stink in a straight line. It is not unusual to swap in a 13bre or even 20b's. There are LSx kits out there too for the less adventurous.

Speaking of 5.0 swaps, how does this tickle your fancy :D

I wouldn't say it was uncompetitive, but even so, it did win the 24hrs and was then banned which says a lot. (It does call the diesels of today into question though.)

Of course, you island dwellers always get nice used cars for a pittance. It's just like buying used cars or engines from Japan. There are plenty of 10+ year old cars and engines with less than 50,000 miles for sale for cheap. A simple look at Autotrader will prove your statement is untrue.

Um no, just no.

The only way it beats a S2000 is that it can carry 4 people. Since that means just about nothing in the sports car world, it really doesn't compete.

It's a good car but there are better options considering its daily drivablility can be questionable. Of course, we're not talking about DD applications here.

Dave:
Who is providing your motor, or are you putting together a rebuild?
Pineapple Racing built the motor for me several years ago for an earlier project and is installed in the car along with the G50-52.

If this means anything to you, the main specs are:
Large street port
GT4202R turbo
3mm 1-piece ceramic seals
Dry sump with billet sump plate w/ integrated engine mounts
Phil Laird intake manifold

I am contemplating building another 20b with aluminum side housings, billet e-shaft, and billet titanium rotors if the testing results are positive. The engine would weigh about 70 pounds less.
