Ford engine identification

Easiest way is probably the casting code. Try a Google search on FOrd casting code - there should be some pages out there that can tell you what codes were used on what blocks.

The 351C looks nothing like the 302 or 351 Windsors.
Dead giveaway for the Cleveland are the canted valves.
Another easy clue is the fuel pump mount is on the block.
The Windsor family is on the timing cover.

Chris,

Could you please post a picture of the letters and castings on the block? I might have to "modify" my 302 for emissions purposes...

Thanks,
Lukas
