Marko's GTD (I think) 40

Ok so here are the uprights, wishbones, "bars" and discs with hubs. Tomorrow I'll prepare the electrolysis bath to get all the rust off.

And calipers, radiator (allegedly original GT40 radiator, perhaps someone can confirm that), bullet mirrors and fuel caps. I wanted to take photos of other parts on the high chair but my wife drew a line there.

Wow! Super crusty! I think your long rods (bars) are the upper and lower rear radius arms that go from the rear suspension uprights to turrets just behind the cabin. There should be four of them :)

Yup, four of em. Actually four long ones and two short ones. I think they attach there too, rear side of the bulkhead and uprights. The short ones are a mystery though.

What do you guys think about this:

GT40 Granada Mk. 3 Based 300mm Billet 4

Seems like a decent disc and caliper and not that expensive either.

Short one - this? (top link). Upper and lower radius rods also shown.

That's right. So the short ones bolts perpendicularly to the chassis and the long ones stretch to the bulkhead. Case closed. Thanks mate :)

Puno pozdrava,

Hi Spec do a 4 pot front caliper for GT40 replicas for the Granada Mk2 upright in 3 sizes 295mm, 325mm and 335mm. On their website click on Kit Cars and then GT40 and then Granada Mk2 based.
Eg. GT40 Granada Mk. 2 Based 325mm Billet 4
I have this kit. They also do an aluminium hub for Mk2 Granada uprights.

Do you have the Mk2 front uprights in the parts you have. I can see the Granada Mk2 front hubs but not the uprights.
Cheers
Mike

Hvala Renato. Nisam ga birao, on je izabrao mene :) Drago mi je vidjeti Balkanca na forumu.

Hi Mike. Attached are the two photos. The first one is what I always thought to be an upright. The second one is of a disc along with what I thought to be a hub. Since English is not my first language there might be some misunderstanding on my part.

Regarding the Hi Spec kit, I was gonna go for 15 inch wheels, so I suppose the 295mm disc is the biggest I can go for. Are you happy with how the kit works? Do you also have Hi Spec in the rear end?

Cheers,
Marko

Your kit was manufactured by Hi Tech Welding Services.

They manufactured about 30 cars back in the mid 1980s.

Most were shipped to Sweden.

We have completed and built several of these cars for customers and can help you with parts.

We still have some parts on the shelf.

Thanks

Andy

The first photo is an upright but a rear upright. I was asking if you have the front upright which would usually be from a Mk2 Granada. The second photo is of the front hub which looks like Mk2 Granada front.
I am guessing that the rear upright that you have needs the rear hub from a Mk3 Granada/Scorpio if it is the same as the GTD setup.

Hi Andy.

I'm glad that the mystery is finally resolved. However I do recall reading somewhere that those kits were not as good as competition. Since you built a few maybe you have can point out the down sides - perhaps some can be rectified before the build?

I'm definitely interested in the parts you have. Can you PM me with a list of parts you have in stock?

Cheers,
Marko

Mike, you're right. These are the rear uprights. I need front uprights (anyone?) and rear hubs and brakes.

Tomorrow I might get a garage in which I'll work on the build so I'll start sorting out everything I have and everything I need. Today I soaked the front arms in electrolysis bath but the damn circuit breaker on my battery charger kept popping out. So the arms remain crusty til I get it sorted out.
