There are several things that cause the squealing or the harmonic noise. Brake hat design they have a bell shape,brake caliper bracket design. Racing brake pads generally have a lot of metal in the matrix of the pads also many street pads and Oem pads have sound dampening shims mounted to the pads.

Actually, that was a rhetorical question, Dave!
My 'point'(?) was there are ways to remedy that situation. ;) :chug:

(All that constant screetching would drive me nuts. But, that said, the whine from the Pete Jackson gear drives I've installed on my street machines drives other people nuts! So, there you go!)

The brake moan/squeal usually goes away once the brake pads come up to temp. There are ways to minimize it but to make it go away entirely would more than likely reduce the effectiveness of the pads.
