  • Sorry, I just saw this message. I am a mechanical engineer and stay away from many of electrical things like that. For aftermarket Tach, most people tap into the ignitor, which drives coils. So that should be anolog. If you are going to run DSM Link, as most people should, there is a forum for their customers (only, you can't get on there before you buys DSM Link), but it is full of people who would give you much getter answers.
    Leon,

I'm working on a project and need some help from an expert DSM'r.

I need to know how the 2g ECM gets and sends it's engine parameters. For example, engine RPM, does it read and send those values as actual ones or does it map to a voltage range?

The project is a digital dash using NVIDIA Composer Studio and some sort of tablet (Nexus 7 or such). A couple others are interested as well and if we can pull it off, we are going to post a comprehensive how-to with all project files, wiring, etc...

These values from the ECU are the first hurdle.
Do they stay digital the whole way?
Is it possible to tap into the CANbus directly?
If there is analog to digital conversion, how?

I'm a military guy and leave for overseas Tuesday so I may not get back to you right away but will asap. Please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]

    Jason
