    Kiwi scratchbuilt

Well guys, long time no see. Just an update, Jac Mac is pretty right, my spare time has been fully occupied with Formula Ford and I haven’t been on this site for ages. After the prang it took me a couple of years to come right physically and then I wanted to go racing. Another couple of years to...

Sharp eyes Jac. Maybe they need to get a bit more heat into the pads......

Help With a Leaky BSPP Fitting??

Sounds like not enough crush on the o ring John. Have you tried a slightly thicker o ring? Naturally you have checked the machined surfaces are not damaged etc.

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

Great encouragement guys. My Kiwi 40 WILL be racing again, with upgrades. As a side note Ross Nicol has just bought a property a few minutes out of Christchurch so there will be two of us racing GT40s at the local tracks in the near future. I reckon that will be fun, not only for us, but...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

Hi guys. All is well. And I am knee deep! As I have mentioned before on this thread, I get lots more enjoyment from the racing than the building, the building is just the means to an end. With the GT40 I've got to do it all over again, and that's going to take a while and the enthusiasm is...

Which is the most correct made replica GT40?

I'm not sure thats the same Goran, used to post really good articles under user name Hemipanter, but I think we have two Gorans here. I could be wrong.

930 CV joint assembly - gaskets

I don't run gaskets or RTV. If the surfaces are true and clean there should be no need.

    Hi from New Zealand

LOL. A slip of the brain. My dyno guy is loaded into my shoe phone as dynogary! However one small update to the list. Ross Nicol walked into work earlier in the week and revealed that he has finally seen the light and bought a rural property on the outskirts of Christchurch. After decades in...

    Hi from New Zealand

Hi Stephen, welcome. Whereabouts in NZ are you? (Edit. Silly me, I see in your other post you are selling a Frank Wigg floor section in Auckland) Other NZers with 40s that I can think of offhand are Lim ali grey Pete Woodward dynogary v8 king andrewrobertson Jimmy M kevinruthbox (now in Oz)...

Any experience with Keith Craft or DSS?

I had KC supply my heads and valve train. No complaints at all. Even if DSS as a company is equally good, the deal breaker for me would be the crank not being internally balanced. That is stupid when you can easily get 0 balance cranks. OK for Ford to do that for a shopping basket, but when...

    Difuser design and function

<SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><FONT size=3> <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> But down force, which is the point of all this, increases. Possibly depends on application though. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> It has been shown during wind tunnel tests on a Radical SR10 LMP sports prototype that downforce...

    Difuser design and function

Diffuser design really needs to be approached in a holistic manner looking at the overall airflow under the car. If you are looking for downforce with a flat bottom car, the diffuser is merely the rearward section of a basic venturi setup. The front of which is the intake from the nose of the...

    Tube specs for wishbones?

Mike is right in that the front lowers need to exhibit good design. I tacked up a couple of preliminary iterations before I settled on the final configuration. Given that I was using light weight tubing I decided to triangulate them in a vertical plane to prevent flexing due to spring loads...

    Tube specs for wishbones?

Scratchbuilders tend to do most stuff themselves, that's why they're scratchbuilders! Chris, if you feel happy with your ability, and based on your 917 effort I would say you are, then go ahead and do it yourself. For reference I used ERW tube, 1" x 1/16" for the rear radius rods and...

    Scratchbuilt 'Kiwi 40' goes racing.

Ah Chris, a fate worse than death! :o No I won't be getting to Teretonga this year Brian. Hope to be tidying up the workshop instead, and fitting new lighting in readiness for a concentrated effort on the car. :chug:
