The BOSS is in the house...

Ahh, bugger. Just checked a photo of the back of my Boss block and found out it does not have the later version stiffening ribs. Oh well, can't do much about it now! Hopefully 7000 rpm and 380 ish RWHP are not going to give it too much grief over time. And yeah, when the engine builders first...

    Exhaust Notes

Bruce, The 8 into 4 you can hear from a Daytona Coupe or replica. Search utube for that. Factory Five supply a 8 into 4 setup with their replicas. It sounded not much different from 4 into one from memory, but that was with a stock 302W motor with quad webbers, so it didn't rev all that high...

    Oil Pan / Sump Pictures

Forget copying a Milodon 302W road/race pan unless you like oil surge and dead motors. Been there, done that. Just buy a Canton road/race pan to suit. Have done two events late last year with it installed and video recording of my oil pressure gauge shows it to be rock solid. And this is...

    GT40 & Ferraris on Track

Nice pics Ricky. Glad you could reply since I didn't get any photos of the T70, as my camera was on video duty in my car. Does the boss (wife) know of your T70 plans?! Pete - the 355 running on the day was an challenge model I believe, genuine wing and race seats etc. With a very loud exhaust...

    GT40 & Ferraris on Track

Flatchat, you may be interested to know there was an original Lola t70 there to, with 302 running gurney weslake heads! Nice, not fully restored and running yet, but still looked great. I can confirm that from following that 599 in practice they're not lacking straight line snap!

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Nothing exotic for data logging, in car video does the job. I've got all the dataloggers you could imagine at work, but using them feels like work too much! Tps mapping is used as I have an 8 stack setup, which the tuners assure me does not give sufficient resolution if using map load sensing...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Well, finally got sump fitted and tried it out on the track on the weekend. Turns out the Canton sump (15-630S) seems to do the job. I only had very limited time on the track where I could actually push it hard, but on a long180 deg corner the oil pressure didn't budge from 3 bar (45 psi)...

    GT40 & Ferraris on Track

GTRene - Not a special red. Honda 'Milano Red'. As applied to Civic Type R and the superseded Accord Euro in Australia. Chosen because it has no orange in it at all and reflects blue very nicely, so looks great (to me) at sunset. VW Golf GTi red (Mk V) is very similar, but without the blue...

    GT40 & Ferraris on Track

Picture taken at Australian Festival of Speed, last Sunday. 599 Fiorano, 430 Scuderia and 458 Italia are all trucks by comparison! Supercar cup consisting of Cobras (+ GT40), Corvette, Ferrari and Porsche was run and won as it was in the day - GT40 first!

    transaxle temps

I also recently installed a full engine bay undertray recently. But didn't measure temp before or not yet either now tray is installed. Since supersprints are only 2-3 laps I am not too worried about it and am using synthetic trans oil. One simple way to measure max trans temps on a track...

    Something doesn't look right here....

Yep, my two engine mount bolts (very similar arrangement to yours) came loose while the 40 was getting a good flogging on the dyno for a few days earlier this year. Which reminds me to go check them again. Also had issues with CV bolts on driveshafts coming loose as well. Can't trust a thing it...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Thanks for all the info lads, particularly all the feedback about the Canton Pan, which is what I've gone for. I went throught the excersise of pricing up a dry sump conversion and it comes out to US$2000 at least! Which is too much for me to afford right now. I've ordered a Canton 15-630S pan...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Thanks for the comments lads. I'll probably try the canton wet sump first up, and if that don't work then I know it is dry sump time. Jac Mac - most of my oil issues I see via video playback from in car camera that captures the oil gauge. But yes, I have been guilty of looking at oil gauge...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

8 Stack is a DC&O setup. They do nice cross ram versions for LS motors also, one of which I've had a close up look at. ECU is Wolf V500, sequential fuel and spark. Spark comes from 8 coil packs, from LS7 Chev motor, driven by the ECU. What sort of sumps are all you banana benders running...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Cheers for the thoughts. What I'll do as an intial check is take a laptop in the car with me data logging the ECU and then try and provoke the misfire to see what is going on. Not easy away from the track however!

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

Don't think it's a fuel issue. I run 8 stack injection, with a 2 Litre surge tank. Misfire does not occur with sustained accel or just after braking only, only after cornering. No PCV either. Oil fumes go straight to catch can. I'm thinking oil is surging up the cyl bores and overwhelming the...

    Oil Surge = Misfire?

I'm having trouble sorting out a couple of things in my GT40 motor, which I'm starting to thing are related. I use my 40 for sprints and hillclimbs. Only three events this year due to trans issues. Not fun. Anyways, just completed a circuit sprint on the weekend and it seems there is a pattern...

    944 transaxle

The quaife diff you want is the one for Porsche 944. Fits 016 and all 016 based 944 trans. S, S2 turbo + old 944 016 trans.

    944 transaxle

Yes, it can be done, but you'll need to buy an Audi 016 Trans as well and go from there. Not worth it really, I've done it though. Seach threads by me and you'll find all you ever didn't want to know about getting a 016/944 hybrid to work. Regarding LSD into 016. I used a Quaife LSD in my 016...
