I suggest you do some measuring before you buy a 429 series engine. It's quite a bit longer than the FE, even the SOHC version.

Coolers are non-directional but oil filters have a check valve to prevent reverse flow. Plumb them backward and you get no oil pressure or flow. In a filter, oil always flows from the outside into the center.

If you are using a remote filter, make sure that the connections are flowing oil in the correct direction.

Move the pivot point back, onto the main body. That will increase the clearance while the hood is opened.

This is probably due to gyroscopic reaction. Not much you can do to change it except reduce the rotational inertia with lighter wheels and tires.
