    LSA SLC Build Log

Ahhhhh yes ... The battle goes on between .... Doing what I want on the car -vs- Doing what I can afford -vs- Doing what won't take for ever ! LOL ! An old hot rodder once told me .... It will always be more work than you thought ... It will always cost more than you thought ... And will most...

    LSA SLC Build Log

Decided on a "Hurricane" HVAC unit. Fits all the way forward in the pass foot well. Lines exit out front. The mock up looks good so far.

    LSA SLC Build Log

Pedals are in ... Nothing special. I'm a tall guy, so decided no slider, just as far back as I can. I was thinking about notching the front bulk head to allow even more room. But the work would have been extensive and I didn't want to risk stuctural issues. To save space, I mounted the throtle...

    LSA SLC Build Log

I have been concerned about heat in the drivers compartment. So even though I had the cooling tubes jet hot coated, I decided to wrap them. May be over kill ? Not sure ... but it only took a couple hours. Fran also suggested boxing them. Should be a nice spot to run lines and wires.

My best guess so far on blower clearance is that the hat will hit by about 1" I may look in to having a plastic shop heat the window and make a "bump" of some kind. Fran has spares so I'm not worried about goofs at this point.

    LSA SLC Build Log

Time for a couple changes to the LSA. Stock oil pan was too low so a custom pan was made to the SLC dimensions. Pan still holds 6Qts, with filter, cooler, and lines, ends up right at 8Qts. Changed upper and lower pully, changed over to the ZL-1 blower hat, and installed LS-9 injectors.

    LSA SLC Build Log

Once the LSA was out you can see the "V" shape mod for the accessory drive. The real issue was the TB .. (air intake) the LS9 has a different angle. This LSA just wouldn't clear the stock configuration. Installed a bulk head, sheet aluminum covered in Lava Shield.

    LSA SLC Build Log

So It's time to get started ! I have been working on the car for a few months but have just now got the courage to try and start a log ! This is how I received the car from RCR. The LSA was fit in the car along with the required frame mods to make it fit.
