Hi Richard, I did mine as attached. The arm’s made of 1mm stainless and it slightly sprung so it locks under head of the fastener next to it Regards, Andy

    Pass in time for summer.

Hi Martin, Congratulations on the pass, it takes a huge commitment to get to this stage, so well done. As you presented your car for IVA with the side windows fitted, what is the supply for the door mirrors, which I understand will have to be remotely adjustable to comply with regs. I noticed...

    SouthernGT Number 18

Hi Paul, Glad to see you're making good progress, engine start-up is always a great milestone. Regarding the windscreen fittings, as they are generally bonded in, I would recommend getting the screen permanently fitted after the vehicle has been IVA’d & painted When I presented mine for the IVA...

    GT40 For Weekend Cruiser

Hi Larry, No additional reinforcement was added, as any load is spread over a large area, but I did find micro fretting of the paint, fortunately these polished out OK. For later use I added some paint protection film under the suction cups. Regards, Andy

    GT40 For Weekend Cruiser

Hi Alan, I’ve done European tours (LeMans & the Spa Classic) in mine with no real issues. I’ve a custom made 30Ltr luggage box under the rear clam and a soft bag fits under the front access panel. I also have adapted the attached, which looks really cool with a wicker hamper basket fitted...

    Post IVA registration

Hi Marcus, Don’t let the age of the vehicle put you off putting it through the IVA. I’ve recently helped get a 30 year old KVA through the IVA last year – see KVA Project (by Tony Browne) in the build logs and my own build log (Norfolk Tornado) covers a lot of the issues that specific to IVA...

    KVA / SGT build

Hi Udo, Nice to see some great progress. Your throttle bodies need swopping around so that the throttle position sensor is moved away from the exhaust, otherwise it won't last long! Regards, Andy

    power steering ?

Hi David, Not done a GTD, but done installations on a Tornado (mine) and a KVA (Tony Browne's) using a Corsa EPAS system. It works really well and reduces steering loads at parking speeds Regards Andy

    Fitting new SGT Windows

Hi Simon, I used a belt sander when I fitted mine, as its easier to maintain a straight edge. I then hand finished them with a finer grade of wet/dry paper. You'll soon find that most parts you get for these cars will need some form of final adjustment to fit! Regards Andy

    Le Mans Classic 2018

Paul, It was also great to meet up with you and hopefully gave you encouragement to finish your Mk3 Mike, Regarding THAT engine, it’s one I built and is an identical specification to mine which has now done over 9,000 miles without any issues, even using the same manufacturer and part number...

    Le Mans Classic 2018

Well the Eastern Region of the Club did a 900 mile round trip in four 40’s and survived Whilst we did have a few teething problems, with Nick & Phil’s black Mk3 having ignition and fuelling problems after a winter engine rebuild & upgrade and Neil’s white Mk1 had a sweaky rear suspension and the...

    Brett's RS GTD

Hi Brett, as Randy stated, a fresh engine will be really tight and you've got twice as many pistons and hence twice the friction as most engines! I had a second battery in parallel when I did my first engine start which did the trick Keep up the good workl Regards, Andy
