    New Lower Reverse A Arms

I just installed Ian Clark's famous lower arms for the CAV and they are fantastic. Inspite of a bit of fabrication/welding and machining of the upper and lower clevis, they have allowed positioning of the rear tyres in the proper(centered) position inside the wheel well. The quality and finish...

What color is the best for resale

    >>...I know what the color it would be if I was planning on keeping it,<<< I think you should stop there. Do it for yourself, you deserve it. But if you're painting it to sell, then Royal blue with Wimbledon white stripes is my vote.

    Sill Stripes

I got a set of sill stripes from Chris, They looka and worked great. On my CAV, the best positioning was about 3.5" below the actual sill line for the first stripe.

Thanks Phil, Now I'm really intrigued as to which car this is. I had referred to "the book" and figured this was most likely Harvey's car. I'm kicking myself for not looking at the NY regi sticker that would have had the VIN #. I'll have to keep cruising Captree on Sundays, hoping he'll show...

Bill, almost identical, except I didn't really get a good look at the engine bay since the owner was nowhere to be found to open the rear clip. The screens for the side scoops were identical, but the front nostrils had full openings with the same stainless grille inserts as the side scoops. It...

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Are these those $2500 hinges? [/ QUOTE ](latches, but we know what you meant!) [/ QUOTE ] Ooops, yes, latches. See? I'm still all excited about it. A month or so ago, Steve Robertson (on a stopover in NY from SA enroute to Houston,TX, and I get to inspect Tom Power's...

Are these those $2500 hinges? And any idea where to get those Ford emblems?

Hehe, thanks Rob. Those Boranis also sported the proper Dunlops. Notice how high the rear of the CAV sits in comparison. I lowered the rear another 1.5 inches yesterday and I get rubbing in the front of the rear tyres in the dips; a common problem with the CAVs. Ian Clarke is sending me his...

Last Sunday, I cruised to Captree Boat basin in Long Island NY, to see if my CV joint was still spitting grease. I think I licked the problem by using plumber's seal on the bolts. An added benefit and a wonderful surprise when I got there was seeing this beautifully restored road car, which I...

It's definitely warmer now and the trees and buds are starting to show their colors. So are the cars. I can tell it's been a long, albeit warmer than usual, winter. So a trip to the upholsterer is in order. Additionally, the more I drive the car, I'm getting really anxious to get Ian's...

What do you think of my horn placement?

Looks nice and neat but wouldn't the nostrils block the sound? How about inside the front clip intake at the radiator corners?

My CV is still spitting grease!

Thanks guys! I think it's due a much closer look. I'll take it apart when I do the lower arm mod install. The boots have a nice, tight clamp on the inside only; but looks really clean. I suspect it's the bolts. Flat washers sound like a good idea so I'll try that too. Thanks for the pic, Bob.

My CV is still spitting grease!

Hi, I was puzzled at finding grease in the area of the RH CV on my CAV GT. I always found a small ball of grease between the speedo sensor and the CV bolts. Bob C. and some others suggested checking the tightness or integrity of the bolts holding the CV halves together. They were pretty secure...

    CAV109MONO Progress

Very nice, Steve. Thanks. I'm now inspired to take the trip to the upholstery expert in Hicksville. I'll print these to show them and get the patterns started. Nice touch with the edge stitching too. Looks like you got baby food onto the lens on the last 2 shots... : ) Cheers! Ray

    Getrag oil + some questions...

Any harm in using synthetic 75W90 lube in the Getrag? What IS the recommended oil anyway? I've noticed some greasy gunk accumulating between the speedo sensor and the CV housing bolts. I constantly clean it off because it gets thrown all over the engine bay. Is this normal or do I have a...
