    Engines' skewed a bit...

My engine seems to tilt a bit to one side as evidenced by the Weber turkey pan rubbing on 1 side of the clip opening. Would there be any harm, you think, if I installed a couple of washers under the motor mounts and the transaxle mounts on 1 side?

    New 016 thread...

I do have the Audi016 in my CAV29 is actually what drove me to the computer this evening. I have just over 3000 miles on it and the gearbox seems to be holding up pretty well. She shifts like butter and I actually like the ratios for the driving that I do. My only complaint are the inner CV...

    What Color And Why?

If I remember correctly, this one had a fine silvery base making it a muted metallic. The Portofino Blue in SPF's color choices is also quite nice, but the darker Guardsman Blue sets off any shiny stuff that's on the body. Royal Blue is too dark for a 40, although beautiful on a Cobra. If it...

    What Color And Why?

    >>I know the Amon car is historically significant. I have that color combination as an option. What others do you remember that would replicate succesful times for the GT40? The silver and titanium colors are striking. The MKII that I test drove was titanium with black stripes.... cool.<<...

    What Color And Why?

Hahaaa! Thanks for reminding me, Steve. I forgot that the reason I bought my first powerwasher was to clean the wires of a MGB I had. I may have sold it at the time since I could never get those suckers to balance either.

    What Color And Why?

Rick, I actually know a Dayton dealer/distributor and can get pretty hefty discounts. He said the pin drive style can be done with these wires style. As a semi-custom order, he ball parked around $900 each. He would borrow a front and a rear wheel to copy the hub center and figure the...

    What Color And Why?

A major part of many enthusiasts' enjoyment of these cars is researching and then replicating a historic GT as closely as they (we) can. My chosen model is the late silver P/1033 last known to have been in the stables of Scuderia Filipinetti of Geneva. The SPF GT is a very accurate replicar...

    First SPF MKI Pictures

I tried to source the oil cooler when I was going to install one in my CAV. I found only rebuilt ones for the Çontinental aircraft engines application, $600 each, and required a core. obviously, I didn't have a core so that project went flat.

    Engine for Superformance

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 351 based motors do not have the same firing order as the 289/302/460; which I'm told the bundle of snakes 180degree exhaust system was designed for. It wouldn't sound the same and the pulse-extractor effect wouldn't apply, I think. My 302 w/Webers sounds wildly...

Why does the Shelby have to be such a pig?

Simply put, maybe the marketing Gurus just felt that more potential buyers would rather buy one that jumps from the stoplight, rev to 4000 and then brake...repeatedly. And then, should that driver end up in a fenderbender, have enough heft in the surrounding sheetmetal to walk away with not...

New to site few questions about CAV GT

Great, VEEK BTW, if anyone needs one of these relays, I have an extra as the minimum order from my source was 2. I think it's $4.

    General ? to CAV owners

I think I would although it would be a very difficult choice against a SPF. Now, mine is an older CAV (#29) and I really have not seen one of the newer models. From all accounts they are spectacular.

New to site few questions about CAV GT

Cliff, I didn't realize you "stole" your GT. Great deal! Veek, I think it would be a good idea to post the ignition relay mod diagrams in the gallery section here. Ditto for Bob Childress' pics that take it a few steps further with the A/C wiring mods. You both have been a great help to us...

    New England GT40 builders' gathering

Awfully nice of you, Mark. I might just be able to drive the 40 up, taking the Groton ferry. But then, you wouldn't really get any work done on your build...rockonsmile

    48 IDA orientation.....

    >>Thats a nice setup you have..... where did you get the filters and what type are they? I've seen them advertised but not sure which type to get. Also it looks like you have replaced the top studs and nuts with brass bolts did the carbs arrive like this?<< Thanks Andy. The filter I...

    48 IDA orientation.....

Andy, Ian Clark fabricated the turkey pan and set up the plumbing for me. I had a problem with the anti reversionary plate. It hit the glass when fitted. (something to consider when using the spacers too)

    Safe rev limit??

Cliff, I think I have the same motor as you except for the Webers I put on. I have set the rev limiter to 6000 but rarely go there. I shift at 3800 in street driving and 5000 on spirited jaunts.

Most important upgrades on early Mono CAV

Bob, the lower arms mod from Ian at CAV Canada is a must for the early cars. Lowering the rear is challenging when you're done. I machined the coilover spacers down and cut the shock rod bumpstops to 1/2. I also opted to replace the fans and install the 12" curved blade fans and the...

    Cold Supporter???????

:pepper: :pepper: :pepper: Hi Jac!!! It turns "Cold" when the GT's not driven:D Having fan relay problems at the moment. I hate electrical troubleshooting. Cheers! It must be getting pretty warm down there. Starting to get a lot of leaves in the pool up here.
