    GT40 GTD tyres dimensions

I remember your car well and we had some great days at Goodwood back then James. I still have a picture of you exiting the chicane kicking up some dust on a committed lap! I think you were giving my girlfreind at the time a ride round the track and she was a little queasy when she got out but...

    GT40 GTD tyres dimensions

Unfortunately the perfect sized front tyre (in my mind!) does not exist that I know of, that being 235/55/15.

What lee says above but also a good number of owners now use 295/50/15 for the rear. This and the 215/60/15 front can be bought from Avon

GTD Steering Rack / Bump Steer

That sounds correct as I recall. Suggest you don't pack it out with washers or whatever, but make a block to sit the rack on. Once done it is better.

    Door roundel sizes ?

Lol If you fix the roundel on in one peice onto the door and sill panel then all will align well. Then how I did it was to use Mr Stanley's knife and slice it side to side. I used to slice it in the upper half of the door gap so that more surplus was on the lower section of roundel. Then I...

    Jokes anyone? -

On the first day, he sadly packed his belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases. On the second day, he had the movers come and collect his things. On the third day, he sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining-room table, by candle-light; he put on some soft background music...

GTD original Rear Wheelguide rods and rear wheel stabilizer

Neither of those parts look standard GTD to me. The anti roll bar looks to have adjustment added into it. GTD never made the original ARBs they sold as they came from probably ford parts bin. Early GTD used to have the ARB over the top of the gear box but later ones had it underneath. The...

    Lotus 23 recreation built

Looks an excellent job. Lovely. Did I see you running fluids through the chassis tubes as per in period? Are you allowed to race with that nowadays due to risk of internal corrosion that is not visible? Or is this not for racing now?

On the drive shafts, I always thought you needed a noticeable angle in the shaft to prevent excessive wear in the CV joints?

    gtd40

A lot of GTD had Smiths gauges but they went bust before GTD did. The latter cars had to use another brand. And I don't know what that brand was.

    gtd40

Ignore the dash board and go to the engine bay, unscrew the four self tapping screws on the square plate about 4 inch by 4 inch on the large flat surface by the bulkhead, and lift away. This will show you the sender in the fuel tank. look for part numbers etc on that and get another. Whilst I...

GTD Front Control Arms - Which bushes ?

then they would be acting like a crude heim joint. Metal rotating on metal like that would be bad. If you don't want poly bushes which come in different hardness of material, because of increased noise I would be amazed if you could hear that difference in a gt40 replica of any make. The...

    GTD chassis # 17789

With the hint that the cars original owner may have been a member of the band The Pretty Things I searched the chassis record using Wiki as a source of all current and past band members. Quite a few members over many years! A surname of Povey got a hit. The band member was Jon Povey. The...
