LS7 Crate Engine Track Use Upgrades

Warranty? I don't think any luck here - this engine is from ~ 2007 (I believe it was bought from Summit Racing and came with the RCR kit) - also not using GM intake and headers, and taken outside the USA. 12months or 12000miles I believe woukd be the usual warranty. Anyone who knows better?

LS7 Crate Engine Track Use Upgrades

Hello: It seems that LS7s are popular amongst builders in this community. The oil pressure of the crate LS7 in my RCR40 is too low for safe operation at higher rpm (hot just 20 to 25psi at almost any rpm level above 1000rpm, tested at the sender as well; cold start ~80psi) The engine is...

    Walter's RCR40 Build

Upcoming projects: LS7 has to come out and the reason for low oil pressure has to be found and eliminated. Engine will be improved for track reliability. The ZF-Q will go to Quaife for an upgrade to current specs. They promise 4-6 weeks for doing this job. Wait for a new unit would be...

    Walter's RCR40 Build

Hello everyone: In September 2020 I purchased an RCR GT40, formerly owned by John Lowe. His build log can be found here on this website: https://www.gt40s.com/threads/johns-rcr-build.25320/ Originally I was hoping that the car just needed a few finishing touches and a build log of my own...

    Walter's RCR40 Build

Here is a link and discussion on how to properly eliminate the 2 heater ports on the LSx (LS7 in my case) water pump: https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/lsx-cooling-system-for-dummies.621363/ (see 1st page) Pretty sure that the needed 32mm plug is missing from my pump. This allows hot...

    Radiator Flow path Original Serck

It is a method for filling coolant into a closed system originally free of coolant- not a method for removing air pockets from an incompletely filled system. Compressible: watch what the hoses are doing under vacuum (in one of the several u-tube videos on this method) - ;-) But yes it is...

    Walter's RCR40 Build

lots of excitement, work and expenses lie ahead: the LS7 needs to come out: oil pressure too low - it does not go up with increasing rpm - hopefully just a bearing problem; along the way the valve train will be subjected to preventive measures and all upgrades be made for occasional track...

RCR40 rocker panels - safety pins

Many thanks to all of you! My rocker panels are positioned as described in comment #6 of Lee's link above: the monocoque floor sits below the rocker panel lower edge. There are, however, no screws holding the rocker panels in place there. They are, so to say, suspended from their top...

RCR40 rocker panels - safety pins

Hi: How are the RCR GT40 rocker panels to be attached to the monocoque (upon final installation)? Mine have been flapping loose at the lower edge. I pressed/glued a rubber seal between the lip on the monocoque and the panel. A second question: does RCR supply the safety pins and their...

    Walter's RCR40 Build

not really part of this build but a good part of my inspiration: my favorite u-tube video on the GT40, narrated by the most modest (and universally successful) race car drivers of all times:

Swapped my ITG JC55/S/65 filters for a special order of the same with stainless steel flame trap layers - may not be necessary with a Kinsler EFI but better safe than sorry.

    Walter's RCR40 Build

I can report some progress made during the winter months: * I familiarized myself with the FAST XFI system. Established and tested several sets of FAST XFI data sets in preparation of the annual inspection. * Built a foot well cover with flanges for two 3" vent hoses. * Added brake cooling to...
