    Fel-Pro Gasket Problem

When I put this engine together about 5 years ago AFR recommended the 1250, saying nothing about it not fitting. This intake gasket fits perfectly it wasn't leaking until it shrunk and cracked. The head gaskets on the other hand, the Print O Seal did not line up in places with the water ports...

    Fel-Pro Gasket Problem

Running AFR 165 heads on a '92 HO 302 roller block. Using the AFR recommended gaskets. head gasket #1011-2 intake gasket #1250 Early on I was getting some coolant leakage at the corners of the heads. I thought it was because I was running straight water and it corroded either the block...

    Nylon Bushings

I used the same dimension coilover shock bushing throughout the car, for suspension, shocks, engine and trans mounts. Pretty versatile, you can change the inner diameter of the metal sleeve and use different size bolts. You can make them wider by using a longer sleeve and you can also sand down...

    Nylon Bushings

I prefer polyurethane over nylon. Specifically black hard urethane. Can be graphic impregnated. You can use Dow111 silicone to lubricate them. Energy Suspension Link-Flange Bushings - JEGS my suspension has rod ends on the outside joints and urethane on the inside joints. So as much rigidity...

How much is it worth to you?

So what class are you looking to race in? And if your questioning $500K expenditure have you looked at the cost of racing lately? Otherwise why go to the trouble to build a CF car? Just look at the GT's that have been campaigned and ask how much they are spending. You may be just dreaming...

Northwest Vintage Races at Pacific Raceways

I probably won't make it. The engine is torn down due to gasket failure.

    Torque wrench recommendation?

Going to have to side with Cliff on this one. The only place I torque is head bolts and wheel lug nuts. If you've been wrenching long enough you can feel the right torque. That said it can't hurt to torque stuff if it's critical and you're not sure of your skills. Most of the major car...

    Tank vents and rollover valves

Eric, TWM induction runners totally separate except for small plenum to feed MAP. No PCV. Some people have built a large plenum under the manifold valley, you have to if you want to run IAC. Bill, my understanding of the discriminator valve, it shuts off with liquid fuel coming up but allows...

    Tank vents and rollover valves

What I was imagining actually exists, imagine that. It's called a discriminator valve. Pegasus - Aluminum Discriminator Valve, 12AN Male Fittings Poly Performance JEEP/TRUCK & BUGGY*::*Fuel Cells & Tanks*::*Fuel Safe*::*Fuel Cell Accessories*::*Discriminator Valves - JK Synergy Suspension...

    Tank vents and rollover valves

Yes Tom, I tried a one way valve, it vents fine but it builds too much pressure. These tanks/fuel system really aren't designed to be pressurized. They are larger and more complex than a bike. When I built them I tested at about 10 psi and the sides were already bulging because they are flat...

    Tank vents and rollover valves

Agree carbon canister doesn't affect performance. But tapping into the intake is problematic with individual/separate intake runners. If you come in below the throttle plate it's going to affect the mixture on that one cylinder because it's bypass air. Not just the fact it contains fuel vapor...

    Tank vents and rollover valves

This topic is interesting to me because I'm still trying to figure out how to vent my tanks. First I tried a one way valve. That didn't work because while it allowed air in as the fuel was used it didn't relieve pressure buildup, like on a hot day. Also tried just running small hose from the...

    New 40 bodies?

Not even close to original and I've seen accurate bodies go for less than that.

    What Spray Glue is Best?

What spray glue is best for the reflective insulation mat in the engine compartment? I used the 3M hi-strength 90 and when it got hot the mat fell off. On the instructions it says "not suitable for bonding unsupported vinyl". Also the 3M Super77 says "not for automotive headliners". So where is...

Discs running out of true, how to find the source of the problem?

a little bit of runout isn't that bad, it helps knock the pads back so they don't rub the rotor when the brakes aren't applied. A visible amount is probably too much, like .010" approx max.

Best way to drill manifold for steam take off

Pipe thread seals at the threads so you don't need a flat face. to locate the drill hole look at the gasket and head on the other side and put it in the middle of that hole with the drill hole perpendicular to the gasket surface.

    Sound deadening with Quiet Car

have to wonder how thick you can get something that sprays on. When you glue foam on you can easily do an inch thick. Most of my GT has minimum 3/8" thick.

    Does size matter ?

I used the smaller resovoirs on my Tiltons. With the master mounted at the floor and the resovoirs about 18" above that just the hoses running down hold quite a bit of fluid. Plus with 2 separate resovoirs you have double the fluid for the system. You can also add as the pads wear down...

    Washington State gt40's

I wouldn't stay in DT Seattle or Auburn, I would stay in Bellevue, you might pay a little more though. DT Seattle hotels would probably have underground parking which would be pretty safe. A good hotel in Bellevue would too and it's closer.

    Track day dilema... Wreck involved.

my 2 cents you don't intentionally stop in the middle of the track ever normal insurance doesn't cover anything on the race track on track days you can never hold anyone else liable for an accident no matter what the circumstance.
