    SPF Alternator

I’ve got an electrical problem that's cropped up this summer. I noticed last year that there’s a constant drain on the battery so that if I don’t leave it on a tender, it’ll drain down over 3-5 days. I foolishly ignored this, planning to get to it because it was driving OK. I did a little...

    toggle switch ID tags

I purchased labels from ebay from this young lady. amandbol-7. You can specify whatever you want, which is a huge advantage as far as I'm concerned. Tim Terry also used her and the labels are very inexpensive: https://www.gt40s.com/threads/gt40-switch-label-option.49765/#post-504915 Here's...

    Grounded in self isolation

Yes, during a time when they had no understanding of infectious diseases. Ever wonder why Europe has had no local epidemics (let alone a pandemic) of the plague in the last 200 years? That knowledge and technology is not protecting us much from pandemics resulting from these novel viruses that...

    Grounded in self isolation

yersinia pestis is a pussy compared to this virus BTW. The most recent outbreak of pneumonic plague was in India. Even with substandard healthcare, it didn’t result in a pandemic.

    Grounded in self isolation

Neil, this is not a human virus. We understand virology much better than in 1918 and have many more tools at our disposal, but we’re unable to control its spread. The rapidity of spread of this disease far outpaces the Spanish flu.

    Grounded in self isolation

This disease is unprecedented and every nation has been caught unprepared. I don't think our administration is doing a bad job, but it is apparent how little emphasis public health has had in our govt. This isn't the fault of this admin. No one has been listening to the warning shots that...

    SPFMK2 Coil over swap

Callaghan, Easiest bet is to go with the coilovers supplied by Dennis Olthoff. I have them on mine and the ride is not compromised. You can probably talk to him about spring rates and describe what you're looking for. They would be a perfect fit and you'd probably save a lot of headache.

    Paul Whitlock

Just had Paul help me finish off p2348. He was a wealth of knowledge and a tremendous help. He fixed a number of things I had done wrong and together we got the car running and worked out the kinks. He worked long/hard hours after a long trip with a bit of a deadline but really came through...

    SPF p2348

I may have finished things over the winter, but some critical items would have been done wrong or poorly. In short, it takes me approx 10x the amount of time to accomplish what Paul does, and I lack the intimate knowledge of these cars that he has, so some things I would have only figured out...

    SPF p2348

Can't thank Paul Whitlock enough. 5 long days of work and we finished the car. Lot's of little items and a few problems. I'll outline things at some point so this build can serve as a bit of a model for the do-it-yourself guy. Paul corrected some of my mistakes, but some of the issues you...

    SPF p2348

Have a very slow coolant leak around one of the flexible stainless coolant lines. Will need to work on that, but otherwise seems to run well and start easily. Punchlist is getting pretty short. Of course, in MN we'll have snow in a week or two......

    SPF p2348

Primed it first for 20-30 sec. Results in about 40psi of pressure. Then started. Initially no oil pressure! Thought maybe the gauge was sticking but after 20 sec shut it down. Sure enough, I had two of the oil lines crossed. Corrected that and now oil pressure hums at 60psi at idle.
