How much oil to run in an inverted Porsche 930?

Ah, I never saw that, I would have thought this thread would have been the appropriate place to post that... C'mon Ron, you know better than that! ;) These trans don't break! No, it was all good, just fitted some closer ratios as I found I never used 1st and 4th was miles too high. Standard...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

Not as much progress over the winter as I would have liked, but it's been one of the worst winters in years, and then the quake as well...... But daylight saving has arrived so everythings looking up. Besides the crash repairs needed after punching the wall at the last Levels meeting there has...

How much oil to run in an inverted Porsche 930?

Here we go, photos and oil levels/volumes in an inverted 930. In the first pic,the oil level to the bottom of the bung (lower black line) is 2¼ litres. You can see that is approximately in line with the bottom of the input shaft. This also coincides with the level at which the teeth at the...

    Remember when....

Not only that Tim. My sheep finds it extremely offensive too! If you want to be a NZ resident you will have to show your sheep a little more respect, or you could be in for a rough ride;)

    F1 2010

I'm with Pete on this one. When overtaking in either a straight line or in a corner you can't just chop across on someone until you are clear of them. And relying on the other driver to back out of it so the move can be completed safely always has a chance of ending in tears. Hamilton was...

    MKIV body

RCR? Although there seems to be some disquiet in some quarters about some aspects of their operation. Gregg had/has a body for sale http://www.gt40s.com/forum/garage-sale/32163-mark-iv-body-windshield.html Hope all's well with you Paul. Those 930 sheets you sent sent me years ago are still a...

    Are our kiwi buddies OK?

Yeah, the aftershocks are causing some further damage, 649 of them as of now. Most of my stuff is OK and has stayed on shelves etc but items leaning against walls wind up strewn across the floor. Only real casualty has been some stuff that I'm storing for Jac Mac so I guess the quake effects...

    Are our kiwi buddies OK?

Life is getting back to normal now. But there is still a lot of demolition, cleaning up, and rebuilding to be done. Here is a summary/overview of the event and its effects cut and pasted from A city tested - and passing well | Stuff.co.nz (There is a passing comparison in this article with the...

    Are our kiwi buddies OK?

Jac Macs place is miles away from the earthquake zone, so he's OK from that point of view. I just tried to phone him but the phone seems disconnected. I know he was having computer problems. Maybe there's a telecoms problem down there somewhere..... I know I'll hear from him eventually...

    Are our kiwi buddies OK?

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Both Lim and I, and our property, have come through relatively unscathed. There is a lot of infrastructural damage, water, power, sewage, which will affect everyone here in Chch. Boiling and conservation of drinking water is a priority. Much of the power has now...

    transaxle dimensions??? help needed

Compared to what? And why? Turbo boxes, G50/5x should be pretty good. 930 in many ways even better. If you've got a V8 why would you even need a six, or five speed? The 930 four speed has ideal ratios for road use behind a V8. IMO. If you find Porsche ratios are not so good for autocross...

    M20 Dreaming

Terry, basically no. The base must be a metal foot to spread the loads (saloon car scenario really). 253-28 is for attaching removable members to the main roll bar. ie backstays etc. If you are keen enough to flick through Sch. A you will find all the relevant regs in there. None of which...

Leon and Terry, 253-28. This is what Russell has done. There is an excellent drawing in Sch. A MSNZ safety regs (Schedule A) are online here http://www.motorsport.org.nz/assets/MotorSport-Manual/App-2.02-Sch-A-2010.pdf and 253-28 is at the top of the second to last page

    M20 Dreaming

Andrew that's fine if you've got a tame registered engineer. The other alternative, which I have done with my backstays, is very neat and tidy as per Drawing 253-28 in Schedule A Edit: Ah, but now that I've read your post again 253-28 won't work conveniently if the stays have to be removed...
