    High speed flanged coupling required

Not exactly a GT40 question, but is related to power transmission. I'm looking for a high speed coupling to mate two 5/8" or 3/4" half shafts together, and it would be equipped with a mounting flange that a gear or pulley could bolt to. Has to be good for 10K rpm, and able to transmit...

    Windows 7

Any ideas why every other version of an MS OS is a dog while the ones in between aren't bad? For example: Win 3.0: Dog Win 3.11 (WFWG): OK Win95: Dog Win98: OK Millenium: Dog And on the NT side: NT 3.5X: Dog NT 4.00: OK Win2K: Dog (but stable) WinXP: OK Vista: Dog Win7: ??? If past history...

    Anybody familiar with Isis electrical?

Looks similar to MoTeC's power modules. But MoTeC's product has milspec connectors, and that cool MoTeC logo which doubles the price.

    Volume flow of oil pump

Tom, there is another interesting thread on the forum about oil pump flows, and what the engine is happy with vs what the oil pump actually flows. Race engine builders reckon most engines are happy with only 5-10 GPM, at a pressure of only 50psi (or possibly even lower). Anything more than that...

Electric oil pump for dry sump?

No doubt the current draw will be right up there, depending on the flow requirement and the pressure the pump has to produce, however, being an optimist about things like this, I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the flow vs pressure curve through the motor, and am anticipating the real...

Electric oil pump for dry sump?

Those guys are.....strange. I ordered a methanol injection system from them nearly two years ago - and I'm still waiting for it..... Their prelube system is loosely based on the one from Pre-Luber Products They certainly have an interesting website, but I wonder how serious they are...

Electric oil pump for dry sump?

John, I'm working on such a system now for my Lexus V8. It's not a full dry sump, but I'm experimenting with an electric motor driven pressure pump. If it's successful on the pressure side only, I'll extend it to the scavenge pumps as well for a full dry sump project I'm also working on...

    289/302-Wet or Dry sump Best?

Dailey Engineering make one of the highest quality dry sump systems available, and they have an "integrated" type design, where the scavenge pump stages are integrated with the pan itself, which all but eliminates the rat's nest of braided hose. Not cheap, but high quality rarely is.

    Compound Turbocharging

Twincharging is another popular term for it, although as Wiki point out, it's still somewhat of a misnomer.

    Compound Turbocharging

There are always naysayers and keyboard racers in any crowd. That's nonsense about the boost being limited to the blower boost; if that were true, then there would be no multistage compressors. Roots and twinscrews are PD type devices, so whatever pressure you give them at their suction...

    Compound Turbocharging

Compound turbo's are apparently pretty common in the tractor pulls, and they run some insane boost figures. For an automotive application both turbo's should be wastegated, or there needs to be other means for controlling the interstage pressure. And both need intercooling. It can get to be a...

    Engine Oil Flow Requirement

I'd like to hear comments/opinions about an engine's "real" oil flow and pressure requirements? Some builders reckon a 30 GPM dry sump pump is bypassing around 2/3 of its flow at high RPM and pressure. Too, the old rule of thumb of 10psi per 1000 RPM isn't holding anymore. Apparently some...

    Solar Car Charging System

I have the Battery Minder solar panel and was disappointed with it. I had it charging the mother-in-law's car at a nursing home, and it failed to keep the battery charged. The nursing home is in a wooded area, so I parked the car in various locations, but evidently it wasn't getting enough...

    Electric water pumps - Discussion

One of the biggest advantages with an electric pump, and its variable speed controller, is the amount of control you have over the flow of coolant, and the cooling of the engine, completely independent of the engine speed and load. This is the main reason variable speed electric drives for...

    Tools in your shop

No one has mentioned the mini-fridge that holds the beer? My 2nd favorite tool (after the fridge) is my manual 3/8" impact driver. Usually found in motorcycle shops (and admittedly not much good for anything larger than 1/4"), you fit the smart end with the bit of choice for the fastener you're...

    Registration in Texas

With due respect, it might not be a bad idea to take this topic private. As with many things here in the great state of TX, the process for car registrations and inspections is sometimes open to local interpretation. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, just trying to protect what few...

    GT40 on Ebay - $33,000 - Nice looking car

There was a thread about this last week, but it's apparently been deleted. The owner is on this forum as "Dukegrad98" and IIRC, he explained his "harsh" wording in the eBay auction pretty well - he's a lawyer! He's also apparently a regular on the cobra forum.
