    Really good track-only tire.....??

Just wondering what folks might recommend for a good track-only tire. My new weekend ride has staggered 19/20 Michelin pilot sport all-season tires (245 F, 305 R). Great tires. I'm just looking for a track day tire to mount on an extra set of stock/OEM wheels - prefer not to burn up my...

Five cars in a three car garage....

The Advantage list is definitely well built....everything fits well and it goes together very precisely. It's much better made than the other China-made 4-post I bought for my home garage about 10 years ago. I was just under the impression the Advantage was made in America. No so...

Five cars in a three car garage....

I thought this Advantage lift was made in the USA. Nope. Dang. Didn't do my research properly. We need to get American manufacturing back on track. Start with 20% import tariffs on Chinese made goods......

Best way to inquire about any CAV GT40's for sale in USA...

Little bit of an update here. Chevy wasn't accepting orders on C8's during the strike apparently. That seems to be resolved so now the order can go in on this one. Couple last minute changes - added the sport exhaust and the low spoiler/splitter. 2024 MSRP is up a bit to roughly $70,000...

Five cars in a three car garage....

Here's how you fit five cars, a ski boat, motorcycle and tools in an (oversized) residential three car garage.... Just installed an Advantage Lifts 9000HD lift in my home garage. Very impressed with the quality and safety features of this lift. The whole thing is very solidly made and well...

    Alternative Energy Sources discussion

There's some important differences about EV fires v. ICE. EV fires can't be put out with water...in fact, that's likely to make it worse. Lithium reacts with water extremely aggressively. Other containment methods are not very effective as the "fire" is really a self sustaining chemical...

Anybody know what this cylinder head is from??

Quick update here gents. I've spent a ton of time going through automotive stuff - cars, parts inventory, whole facilities basically. I've sold a lot of nice cars this year...over 50 so far. Last week the 1939 Alfa 6C was sold to a very well known collector. The car had a very interesting...

Clear/transparent fuel filter for fuel injection pressures

Yup, exactly, I won't be trusting fuel injection pressure to a clear plastic type fuel filter..... Unfortunately, no schrader valves. The early motronic and CIS just wasn't that way. I'll keep looking for some kind of clear/visible fuel filter capable of FI pressures, but like you've...

Clear/transparent fuel filter for fuel injection pressures

Gents, Quick question here... I'm having to resurrect a large number of cars after some years of slumber. Most are vintage/carbureted cars but a few are newer cars that are fuel injected. The older/carb cars are fairly easy - soak a bit of magic oil in the bores for a while, git a new...

1063P 289 engine shuts down at stop light/signs

Barry, you might try bumping the fuel pressure up 5psi. I run all my webers at 5-5.5psi and that seems to work well. I assume you have the brass floats? Have you checked them? If the carbs are the original 1960's carbs to the car then there's a chance the floats are no longer...well...

    1930s Fiat V24 Aero Engine

Amazing thing. Could use an exhaust manifold....or two..... Somewhat bigger than the 3 or 4 Fiat 600 and 850 engines I have laying around.

Best way to inquire about any CAV GT40's for sale in USA...

Quick update here gents. While I really wanted a GT40 (preference would be CAV), I found current prices on a decent car to be in the $100,000-$120,000 range. That's a lot to spend on a car, especially since the CAV I bought some years back was only $57,000 at the time. I like wrenching on my...

    GT40 vs the Competition

All I can say is the C8 Z06 I had left the GT3 I had in dust....and the GT3 left behind any GT40 replica so far in the dust that it wasn't clear what lap they were on..... Yeah, you can highly modify a GT40 replica to go a lot faster with bigger brakes, bigger engine, changed suspension, modern...

    GT40 vs the Competition

I've had a CAV GT40 and, more recently, a Z06 C8. The CAV had a 347 with Holley, 15 inch wheels, stock brakes. Pretty modest in all respects. While I loved the CAV, it came nowhere close to the performance of a modern sports car. The modern 911 turbo - much, much faster, better brakes...

Thank you gents, much appreciated here. Just a quick update. The Z06 is now with it's new owner in eastern Canada...who is very happy with it. I've had a couple brief conversations with two very nice guys thinking about selling their CAVs but unfortunately both are a bit out of my price...

    200 in a rental car!

OK, OK, that was Kph...... The French on the infotainment screen is a good giveaway. Still, that's around 125-130mph. Pretty fast in a rental. We drove from the outskirts of Paris to Calais averaging maybe 110-115mph. No tickets, no polizei, just beautiful rural French countryside.
