    Holley Products

I'll second the pump failures. I've watched two of them fail on a friend's car that gets driven less than 150 miles a year. You'd watch a steady drip of gas appear from under the car as soon as the pump fired up. He and I will never touch Holley pumps again- not worth the risk.

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

Here it is all freshly welded. This will allow the inner framerail to now be the limit for the wheel, rather than the paneling for the outer corner. Still waiting on the darned arbor for the hole saw, or the new suspension would be bolted on one side.

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

Yes, but you have to remember, I am tossing out the Granada hubs and Tornado A-Arm geometry. Just off the top of my head, this will mean no clearance problems at 3" bump, 75% racked, on a 10-11" wide modern rim with around a +38mm offset, 25.6" diameter wheel. This is an extreme bump number- I...

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

You are correct- It is angled, and purposely. I cut these back to give more room in the inner wheelwell for the wheel to turn and travel. I mentioned this earlier briefly, but sandwiched between pictures, so I'll elaborate a bit since you asked. At varying levels of bump, the panelling off of...

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

The girlfriend let me off the leash long enough to spend some time in the garage this weekend. Cut up the top of the frame where it will be pushed back to make more room in the wheelwell, and cut off the original suspension mounts and prepped for the new ones. My hole saw had a...

    GT40 Body Model

Hi guys, I've been working with Boris (email [email protected]) over the past few months, as he constructs a high-quality body shell in CAD to make available for us all. Many of you have probably downloaded his original shell, available on GrabCad and a few other sites, from a few years ago...

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

Hi Keith. It is a blessing and a curse that it was still at a point where I could start fresh. If not for the modifications I've been doing, the car literally could have been built sans body by now. Panelling and bolting things on will go by in a flash when I finally get to them. I have to say...

Tornado TS40 Build Belfast Northern Ireland

Nice info on the mirrors. I like the newer knobs out of the Focus, Fiesta, Mustang, etc. Very compact and unobtrusive!

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

So, here I am 6 months down the road from "I'll just strip and repaint the A-arms". With the help of a local circle-track guy, as well as forum members such as Phil, and extensive research, I've designed new A-arms and mounts to change up the geometry and allow for more suspension travel, a...

    GTD quick rack.

Suspension software like that is not trivial to use and requires EXACTING inputs to get good numbers out.

    GTD quick rack.

When some of you are saying, "making bump steer minimal" or "eliminating bump steer", what are the actual measurements at the wheel, over what travel?

    Suspension Travel

I found this thread from ages ago: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-chassis-brakes-tires-wheels/16236-suspension-travel.html which expands a bit more on travel and again mentions the ERA numbers, but there isn't any hard numbers mentioned of others, other than a general mention of 5"...

    Suspension Travel

For those of you who have messed around with this before, what do you have for suspension travel and what kind of chassis is it? Droop/Bump split, if you know it? I saw a blurb from ERA that said 7" of travel at the wheel, which seems massive, and impossible on these cars if split 50/50, so...

Rear mounted transaxle and clutch/driveshaft inertia

The Porsche setups use a standard-position flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and then use a solid-mounted torque tube with a balanced 1.5" diameter shaft running from the bellhousing back to the transaxle, with a female coupler to connect the male torque tube shaft with the transaxle input...

    Tornado Build - www.gt40builder.com

Though I'm sure you know this Trevor, this can be done with a sheet metal bead roller pretty easily, so don't feel like you're stuck cutting things off or going to a shop!

Fatal GT40 Accident - Please tell me this is not Toms RCR GT40

My condolences to both families. As Jeremy Clarkson would say though, at least it's one helluva way to go. Hoping Tom can pull through.

Old Tornado- Bringing Back to Life

Not much work lately, but a lot of parts are coming in the next few days. I'm going with the del-spheres and will be notching and redoing the frame mounts for them. Here's a picture of the adjustable A-Arm fabrication fixture, made out of my old floorpans! Good thing they're thick enough to use...

    Terror in London.

You're missing the part where they were ALREADY armed. They didn't want to shoot him, they wanted to hack him up, and that's what they did. They've made a choice in their society to shun guns. With that comes tradeoffs, as with any choice. It took a special response team to arrive with weapons...
