15" racing tires - which are the best for the track?

    The Dunlop's & CR6 ZZ's are a stretch for a 12" wide rim.

15" racing tires - which are the best for the track?

They look great, it's a very hard compound, but it appears Hoosier is overstocked and currently having a blowout sale for $60 a tire on that size!

GT40, clutch dragging severely or not completely engaging

For the cast aluminum bellhousing the two inner bolts are not accessible without removing the bellhousing and gear box as a single unit. Many Pantera owners leave them out for that reason, although personally I do not advocate that.

GT40, clutch dragging severely or not completely engaging

Do you have a hydraulic throw out? If so I wonder if the initial loss of fluid or pumping has coated the friction disc in hydraulic fluid and it is now slipping.

    Coyote cross-over header design

The main benefit of the crossover is pulsed scavenging, thus I would imagine equal length primary tubes are quite important. When the topic came up previously I seem to recall that the limitation was that the Coyote ECU requires Lambda input from each bank of the engine, which becomes difficult...

advice on fitting large racingn tyres

Find a local race shop and see if they can fit the tire or if not who they use! You would expect there to be plenty of options around Silverstone!

Electric water pump and digital controller question

One of the biggest advantages of a remote mount pump in a mid engine vehicle like the GT40 or Pantera is that the mechanical water pump pulley usually protrudes into the cabin space (the hump between the seats), a remote mount electric pump allows for a flat firewall. When I spoke with Meziere...

Electric water pump and digital controller question

I am not familiar with the Pierburg design, but the Davies Craig pump is a 'flow through', this allows it to be used in conjunction with a standard mechanical pump as a booster pump and only supplement cooling when required via PWM controlled coolant temperature input.

    After Brexit

As a Brit who migrated to the states I buy parts for my Ultima and Triumph motorcycle and do not pay UK VAT, nor yet have I been charged duties for importing to the US. One would expect (hope) that similar rules would apply post Brexit. The US is clamping down on sales tax though as so many...

    New from Canada

Welcome Bruce, I assume you are looking for the build experience a kit brings rather than a built car that is 15 years old and eligible for importation?

    Hi!! New GT40 owner!

Looks like you are well into creating a project from a perfectly good car, alas my steer had I seen this thread earlier would have been to drive it for at least a summer and then decide what you want to do. Adding the width of the gulf arches albeit perhaps aesthetically pleasing will not...

    The F#@&ing things on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most on board fire systems are sufficient to allow the driver to exit the vehicle and have the luxury of watching the $100K car burn to the ground from outside rather than from inside it!

    Any unfinished ERA's out there?

Everyone's idea of 'unfinished' differs, are these cars ever really finished? There's always something to fettle with! I have to bolt the 48 IDA's on to mine and retrofit A/C, so it's still kinda unfinished in my eyes. Interestingly I pulled all the invoices for mine in trying to help someone...

    Early planning options on transaxle

I have an Ultima with 600HP hooked up to a G50 that has seen a lot of track use, never any issue; Howard's advice is solid, my G50 was built with billet side plates, internal oil spray bars, upgraded diff, side shift conversion etc. and was a $16k investment in 2004 dollars.

    ZF DS-25-0 Transaxle

So what's the cost of a new ZF these days, I thought it was ~$16k? My ZF cost $8,500 to rebuild and it was in pretty good condition, I've not seen a used ZF any higher than $10k, but supply and demand can drive prices crazy I guess... maybe the history on this one adds some value?
