There is no upper part to plate 1. It is essentially a cover plate to close off the bottom of the bellhousing.

Just used a wire wheel on mine and a Dremel to get into the more difficult places. Wash with de-greaser. Hand grip had a couple of very minor cracks, so filled with epoxy, then painted. Has lasted well so far. Bolted straight in. Have used the original routing for the cable (i.e. handbrake...

Probably not absolutely necessary, but I have them as it stops the centre of the front clip lifting at speed, and is an extra safety measure if one forgets to fasten either of the side Hartwells. .

Having resisted the temptation to take the 40 to the supermarket during lockdown I was keen to see if 7 weeks of inactivity had adversely affected the battery. Apparently not. After a few turns to get enough fuel through the system she was good to go.
