Rear tire size question and 2"/4" flares......

Awesome looking car Gary. Does your car have any rear quarter extensions? Or does the 295 tire fit in the stock fender well? That may be wide enough for me. But I'd have to see an ass end shot of the car to be sure. And Walter, I'm glad to see you're a "Keeper of the Speed". ;)

Another question: Dry or wet oil sump setup??

I think that's the one I was looking at. Nine quarts for the system.

Another question: Dry or wet oil sump setup??

The one I was looking at is a road race pan and does have baffling and trap door.

Good eye. OK who knows what a Stinson 108 is?? And no cheating googling it.

Another question: Dry or wet oil sump setup??

That's what I was wondering. As long as it's above the lower parts of the chassis, it should be good. I was looking at a 7 qt. Canton road race pan. But I have seen dry sump tanks on some cars while trolling around and looking at everyone's pics. The two mentioned above seem to be pretty...

Another question: Dry or wet oil sump setup??

Got another question. Do most use a standard oil pan in their GT40? Or can a 7 qt. pan be used? Or are dry sump setups used because of added ground clearance? Or a road race rear sump oil pan? Too many choices.

The only thing that's really holding me back on an 8-stack is the $7500 cost. And having real Webers is a $4000 option. Whereas a standard carb/intake is about $1000.

I'm curious what intake people use if they go with a Holley 4-barrel for fuel delivery. A simple Edelbrock dual plane or an airgap or a single plane like a Victor Jr???

    Share your engine combination............

Cam I'm looking at is a bit more aggressive and heads I'm looking at flow about 18% more. That may be what pushes mine higher. But sounds like a solid engine. I'm hoping that what I build will last a long time. I don't relish the though of having to pull it out every year or two to be...

    Share your engine combination............

Maybe this could become a sticky. I've been surfing the internet and mainly magazine articles on various engine builds from a 289/302 up to a 427 windsor stroker and even a few 427FE builds. I was just wondering if people would share their engine builds along with their HP/TQ dyno results...

    351 Windsor ID ??

Well I cracked open this engine today to take a look at what I bought. So far so good. No big sludge buildup inside. The drain holes in the head weren't plugged. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the heads off and see how the bores look. But with the plugs out and my cheapie bore scope things...

Research phase of SL-C build- New user

For what it's worth from Wikipedia: The engine in the C6 S6 is an even firing all-aluminium alloy 5,204 cubic centimetres (317.6 cu in) Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) 40-valve (four valves per cylinder) 90° V10 (parts code: 07L, identification code: BXA). Compared with the related 5.0-litre...

Yeah, Scott did say it is a HD unit he gets from Europe and generally not ever seen in the US.

Research phase of SL-C build- New user

The same engine is in Audi's S6/S8. May be less expensive to source it that way. They're all over the salvage yards for $4-7K, depending on mileage. Search Results And that sure beats the $30-50K for an actual Gallardo engine. Then you could spend some $$ on the Audi engine upgrading...

    302 or 351W??? I'm driving myself nuts

Been trolling youtube and internet for build ideas. Engine Masters (I know they're a couple of shade-tree maniacs) did a video with three different heads. Very interesting. Small cam and the right head on a 408 low compression short block and engine made 484hp and 520lb.ft. of torque. That...
