Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

Talked with Scott. Nice guy. Sounds like I'd be around $8K with the Audi trans, adapter, flywheel, press. plate, clutch, and starter. Definitely a bit cheaper. Just gotta do some more research.

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

I've been quoted between $10-11K for a Porshce 996, fully rebuilt to handle a V8, adapter plate, clutch, pressure plate, etc. I'd always figured $20K for the engine/trans setup. The engine I can probably get done for $8K. I already have a good 351W core. 408 stroker kit, AFR heads, intake (I...

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

Used ZF's are readily available? Where? I haven't been able to find any.

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

ZF's are getting hard to find and get parts compared to the Audi unit I'd bet.

    302 or 351W??? I'm driving myself nuts

I've thought about dismantling it down to the shortblock. Then I could sell off the heads and the exhaust manifolds and have the engine for free.

Rear tire size question and 2"/4" flares......

Don't worry, I would never consider "regular" street tires. The Avon's are $$$, but if I'm spending $70-80K, I'm not gonna scrimp on the tires. I'm still wondering what size tires go on the rear with and without the flares. Is it 295 with no flares, 315 with the 2" flare and 345's with the 4"...

    302 or 351W??? I'm driving myself nuts

I found a 1970 351 at a great price. So I snagged it up. It's tucked away in the back of the garage for now. Now I just need a car to put around it.

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

Thanks for the input. I was also wondering what the weight is of the 01E transaxle.

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

I've heard a lot about the 930 boxes being very "rough". Hard shifting, finicky. But everyone does agree that they are tough. But even a 930 turbo had, at the most, 330hp. My plans are for a 408W with a 450-475 goal. That's a significant jump. And if it's going to be re-built, I'd rather...

Has anyone ever gotten a Griffin transaxle......

I'm in the planning stages for a GT40 car and am looking at my options for the transaxle. I want to do a right hand drive setup with the shifter on the right, so cable shifter. It seems like the best I've found so far is a Porsche 6-speed. Rebuilt by a reputable company with an adapter plate...

Rear tire size question and 2"/4" flares......

Well I'll be, there they are. Avon tires at Frisby Performance Tire north of Chicago. Thanks. Now just gotta see if the $1000 for flares is money well spent.

Rear tire size question and 2"/4" flares......

I was looking at RCR's web site and saw that you can order your body with no flares, 2" flares, or 4" flares. It seems that, if going with 15" wheels, the front tire size is pretty fixed at a 225 wide tire. I was just wondering what the different tire sizes that'll fit with the stock body...

    351 Windsor ID ??

Well I poked around the engine. No tag on the distributor. But I did pull all the plugs and get a look inside. Only 1 cylinder has some very mild rust on the walls, so I hit them all with some oil. The tops of the pistons didn't look great, but I guess that's to be expected.

    302 or 351W??? I'm driving myself nuts

Yeah, we're the rust belt. What we call restorable most call lost cause, basket case, parts cars. I did power wash it. It was pretty thick with sludge on it. And then blew things out with the air compressor. One thing I did notice was that when I flipped the engine over on the stand (man...

    351 Windsor ID ??

No accessories on the engine. I'll check the distributor for any kind of tag. Where would that be or what would it look like? And so I'm guessing this is the earlier block with the 9.48 deck height, not 9.503.

    A 1969 engine cast June 26, 1970??

    351 Windsor ID ??

Hi, well I scooped up a 351 Windsor that happened to be right down the road. It's a 2-barrel intake engine. I don't have a car to put it in yet, but hey that's a minor detail . Anyway, I got it home and managed to clean all the sludge off of the engine to get the block ID. The guy...

Minimum fuel line size for 347 with EFI

I was going to to say 3/8". I think that's -6AN. I have 1/2" fuel line on my Buick. But that engine is 462 cid.
