Neil, I'm glad that you OK with it. I'm beyond satisfied which isn't easy to do ;-) Joel, I spent some time trying to determine the optimal size, but in the end I went with what would fit (and looked cool) at the level the water exits. Here's my perspective: I'm not building a drag or...

    Strongest transaxles

Ricardos are supposed to be pretty bullet proof and are the strongest street transaxle that I'm aware of. More expensive than a Graz, but less expensive than any of the race transaxles that I'm familiar with. I have one if you're interested. I decided to go with an Albins ST6-M and while I...

Neil, the chassis is plenty rigid, in newton/meters per degree 35,000 Ferrari F50 30,000 SL-C 27,100 Ford GT (2005-6) 27,000 Pagani Zonda F 17,000 Ford GT40 MK1 14,500 Corvette C7 And that's without the roll cage. If you don't trust...

Thanks for the links, there are some good options there... ================================= I finally got around to mounting the nose hinges that Bob and I created. The foot of each hinge is bolted to a splitter support link that connects to the nose frame. The nose frame is robust (120-wall 1”...

    Wheel Dollies - Recomendations

Making your own will work great if you use quality casters per Howard's suggestion. However, I don't agree that you should skip the locks on the casters. High-quality casters on a smooth floor will roll very easily. In my state, garage floors must have a certain pitch towards the door and with...

    Mid Rise Scissor Lift

I dropped mine into the floor and I love it. Drive anything onto it and simply lift. When you're not using it, you basically gain a parking space. You also don't have to worry about tripping over the hydraulic lines or balance lines. If it's your house and you'll be there a while, I'd consider...

I hauled my car down to Allen’s and we installed the door actuators and brackets discussed in a previous post. The electric door actuators have several advantages. Besides the cool factor, they apply tension to the door ensuring that it’s firmly seated on the door seals, they keep the door from...

    RCR40 Handbrake?

I wouldn't use the manual system. I can't speak for the RCR40, but lots of SL-C owners are using a Telsa e-brake and an aftermarket controller. I went with Hi-Spec which is very compact and the ECU is potted in a cast metal case. It not only weighs less in total, it has lower un-sprung weight...

Using an EWP as an auxiliary pump to the mechanical

I removed my water pump which has a lot of advantages for a supercharged engine (i.e., you can run a massive super damper), but it's a lot of work. A simpler option is to remove the impeller on the mechanical pump. I know it's been done on LS pumps, but I'm not sure about LT pumps. If you're...

I had figured out how to mount the C7 tail lights and Kevin had sorted out how to fit them into the body. So it’s time to just do it, right? Nope… Brian mentioned the 2020-2021 Toyota Supra tail lights which weren’t out when I settled on the C7 lights. They are more modern, exotic and make the...

Good source for carbon fiber / epoxy supplies?

Only buy brand-name epoxy resin. There's a handful to choose from, but I've had good experience with West Systems and Total Boat. Alan, who has built 20+ SLCs uses Total Boat. Both he and I are located in the North East so we buy our composite supplies from Jamestown Distributors because they...

    S2's Build Thread

Abe's a pro so he was able to achieve the results without any special equipment. Edges were deburred, a tube polisher with a surface conditioning belt was used to clean clean the surface, acetone was used to degrease, clean gloves were used, pure argon with a healthy flow was used to back purge...

Titanium pie cuts before deburring and surface conditioning and 3D-printed tube clamp I’m going to run an x-pipe under the transaxle. Since I’m primarily interested in smoothing and reducing the magnitude of the exhaust, as opposed to maximizing HP, I went for what would fit best. The x-pipe is...

Mason, it's a lot of work just to mock things. The biggest challenge now is to figure out how to temporarily stiffen the tail so that I can start testing some air springs. ============= LS engine oil inlet fittings; Daily Engineering (left) and Kurt Urbane (right) In a previous post I...

    Slc rear wing uprights

Note that Superlight offers a wing option for the race tail, but not for the street tail. If you want a street tail, AFAK you'll need to fabricate your own support.

Neil, I'll have the engine tuner ask him when I get to that point... he clearly doesn't want to see cats on the engine LOL As I’ve previously mentioned, I’m completely changing the rear 20% of the tail. The stock tail is a single pivoting piece that supports the tail lights and has an...

I started fabricating the cat-back exhaust system. The plan is to fabricate stainless steel sections for the catalytic converters (cats) that connect to the merge collectors and titanium mufflers via v-bands. My engine builder recommended an Air-Fuel Ratio (AFR) of 10.5-11 which is crazy rich...

Rich, Thanks for the compliment. The rear springs are Eibach 0600.250.0750 (link here EIBACH COILOVER SPRING). They are 750 lbs/in and have an OD of about 1.6" which provides plenty of clearance.
