Does anyone know anything about a Tremec Transaxle?

This was done by Corky Bell. (Cobra with a torque tube and Corvette style transaxle) He built a prototype Cobra with a lot of updates. Not sure if it ever went beyond a prototype. He has/had a site on t.

Carroll Shelby vs Factory Five Racing

It's not material to the lawsuit, but as an interesting fact, I think Ford owned the majority interest in the Shelby cpmpany quite early on, as early as 1963, unless it was a limited parternship of some type both Shelby's corp. and Ford owned jointly. Does anyone have any facts on this.

Ford Motor Company v. Safir GT40 Spares, Ltd

My thoughts are (maybe wrongly so) that in the auto parts after market, people are able to offer parts for sale as long as they are not patented. The shape of a car may be trademarked, but offering a single body panel does not mean you have stolen the shape or infringed on the trademark. With...

    Aluminium Wishbones

Several considerations are Fatigue: Aluminum has no fixed stress limit for fatigue like steel Corrosion: depending on the galvanic of touching materials Failure: Mild steel may help prevent a catastrophic failure condition, where aluminum unless it's designed properly or clearly...

Ford Quadcam injection and gbox questions

Re: Ford Quadcam injection Hey, what's budget got to do with 8-stack injection :) Kinsler makes a really sexy unit. Also, I don't know if your planning a lot of mods with the Ford motor, but Sean Hyland has a pretty good book out "How to build Max-Performance 4.6-liter Ford Engines" I...

Ford Motor Company v. Safir GT40 Spares, Ltd

I'm curious what part H&M has in this, maybe it implies issue with the use of the GT40 Mk II?

Anyone put a Ford Modular in a GT40 in UK?

Not the UK, but I'm pretty sure at least one fellow has used a modular in Austrailia or NZ. if you search the site you might find something. I think it may have been a RF from 2-3 yrs ago.

Should the US Government (Taxpayers) Bail Out the Big Three?

I think it's more complcated than the front end question. Example: How much would it cost to put all those people on unemployment, welfare and medicaid/medicare, and then give them Soc Sec... that they did not pay into. Also, as long as our government turns a blind eye to the BS China gets...

Ford Motor Sport water pump failure

Question How do the v8 aluminum heads and blocks take to overheating? When I was a kid, it never seemed to be a problem if one of our chevy 350 trucks overheated (all cast iron) but when my wifes mazda overheated in the late 80's it was a significant repair bill (more than my first three used...

    Limerock 2008 Vintage Races

Hi guys, I attended Limerock this year on Saturday. I missed a lot of the action because I brought my three children with me. I was able to take a lot of pictures. I have started a smugMug gallery and will be adding to it over the next several days as I process more of the pictures. (I...

    Titanium rods...

For guys that know how to machine titanium, I'm told it's not that hard to do, however the raw material is very expensive and the cost has increased a lot lately. It does fret and can be finnicky, but once you know the parameters of machining it... I think Titanium rods on the street is not...

Flat plane crank in a SBF?

I think it is more used because it is a little smaller in diameter, lighter and lets the engine rev faster and it does introduce more vibrations. Some flat plane crank engines use a balance shaft which can be a detriment if your packaging size and weight is critical.

Flat plane crank in a SBF?

Depending on what your trying to accomplish, to get any real benefits out of a flat-plane crank you would have to reconsider and match all the characterstics of the engine. Bore & Stroke Rod Ratio Cam Cylinder head specifics. As exciting as it sounds to do something like this, I think...

    Weber IDA Jetting

This is of course good advice. However if the owner has to debug this on his own, there are some good books out there that take some of the mystery out of the Webers. Since it is running rich and you mention how much the idle screws are turned in, it suggests the idle jets are slightly...

    Weber IDA Jetting

Hi, Several thoughts, The chokes may be sized pretty well as you have them. At first blush, the idle jets may be to large. Do you have any of the Weber books that discuss this, and give the process to determine if the idle jets are too large? Pat Braden's book "Weber Carburetors"...

Weber MAX CFMs (Weber Carbs and Max Air Flow)

Ron, I think you are right in the idea that it is a pretty difficult (and expensive) comparision to make in a way that would really prove "what is what" and where each system has its sweet spot. I am assuming in my above statement that you would change the cam with a weber installation, so a...

Weber MAX CFMs (Weber Carbs and Max Air Flow)

Re: Weber MAX CFMs Ron, I was lumping together plenum based efi systems (not tuned port efi or IR based efi) and 4 barrel carburetors. In general a well tuned Weber setup should beat both, assuming you have enough air at the top end. I'll have to try and demonstrate this statement...

Weber MAX CFMs (Weber Carbs and Max Air Flow)

Re: Weber MAX CFMs Actually the reverse is true. In a plenum type manifold for FI or a 4 barrel carb the cylinder on the middle (strongest draw) of its intake stroke will pull exhaust from the cylinder with an open exhaust valve, not fully closed and its piston still pushing exhaust out...
