    Squealing V-Belts

The Goodyear gatorback belts are very good - high recommend. As Ian said above, v-belts are different widths. In other words, the v-belt width has to be matched to the pulley groove width. If they're mismatched then they won't run right -noisey, come off, wear too fast, slip, etc.

    Ferrari 330 P4 v12

Just a thought here... Back in my 20's I was helping with repairs and improvements to a 70 foot racing sailboat. Several of the hatches had curved see-through panels...but had become cracked and hazy. We made replacements with a type of clear acrylic using the old pieces as a mold. The...

    Car polish guys....

Thank you Paul, that's helpful. Yup, it's a funny thing on those cars - the vacuum system controls/affects all kinds of things...including the transmission shifting. I've tracked down a couple leaks already and things are getting better...but I'll keep at it!

    Car polish guys....

Been a little while since I've posted on GT40s....and this is probably going to come across as a bit bitchy...but it's been on my mind lately. I recently purchased a vintage car ('72 mercedes 280se 4.5). Cosmetically, the car is absolutely beautiful - paint is amazing, body straight, interior...

Bring A Trailer (BAT) Cautionary Tale....

Yes, again - caveat emptor. These days you really have to see a car in person before bidding on it. There are sellers out there who just don't give a shite about being honest and straight forward. The selling dealer who screwed me on this one is John Van Lindingham at Route 36 Motorcars...

Bring A Trailer (BAT) Cautionary Tale....

Just a cautionary tale here about buying cars off of Bring A Trailer (BAT). In prior years/decades I've purchase two cars off of BAT and it was a good outcome in both cases. The sellers in both cases were very honest about the car's shortcomings and faults, and plenty of...

    WTT Ferrari, Porsche for gt40

Have to say, with about 4,000 miles on the 2024 C8 now, I'm super impressed. The car runs fantastic and is so immensely capable of very smooth high speed travel. The 2023 Z06 was faster, but a more harsh ride took away a lot of the every day pleasure. Drove a whole day with the C8 at well...

    Vehicle Storage - car bag?

Car cover for a C8 corvette fits nicely on a GT40. They make some very good C8 custom car covers that do a lot to protect the car from the elements. Concrete floor is a lot better than dirt/natural with the humidity, but depending on how the concrete was laid down (vapor barrier? crushed rock...

016 Transaxle Clutch / Flywheel Parts Needed

That's a shame Kennedy Engineering was a no-go with the 016 parts. They used to supply a kit for the 016 (plate, clutch parts, etc.) to SBF - I know, because I bought two such kits from them. The kit included a SPEC clutch I know, but I don't recall the part number unfortunately.

    SCAMS GALORE

Isn't it a bit unusual for a newly-joined to come on the site and start calling people "scum bags" in their first post?? Maybe introduce yourself first, and then subsequently politely inquire if anyone has had any trouble with any vendors generally.... Then perhaps share a personal experience...

    WTT Ferrari, Porsche for gt40

Coming from relatively modern cars like those I think you'll find a GT40 is extremely basic in comparison. No creature comforts, not even roll down windows. Fantastic cars, but in no way at all like a modern sports car. I was at the same decision point about a year ago. Ended up settling...

Engine mount bolts, washers and nuts

If you want to lock it good but don't want to use red loctite then castellated nuts can be a good option. You can buy grade 8 hardware of set lengths which have already been drilled for the split pin. Just an idea.

SPF Halibrand Wine Glass Style Wheel Casting Pin Holes Leaking

Had the same problem on the magnesium wheels on a Bizzarini 5300 we had in the 1990's. We painted/coated the rim with a catalyzed marine resin (West System Epoxy Resin) and that solved the leaking. That said, that was a Sunday driver. Would have never taken it on the track with that...

AN6 fuel Pipe Fittings PTFE Tape or Not?

As others have said, for AN no tape or sealant of any kind. However, I would recommend using an appropriate lubricant for the threads during tightening...along with the proper holder and tightening tool. The holder is the soft metal/aluminum holder that commonly goes into a bench vise and...

Best way to inquire about any CAV GT40's for sale in USA...

Bit of a surprise here... The fellow who bought the 2023 Z06 from me called me yesterday to report he had crashed the car. Apparently went off the road at high speed and the car is a write off. He was asking me if I had some of the original purchase documentation (window sticker, orig...

Best way to inquire about any CAV GT40's for sale in USA...

You won't be disappointed with RCR. Fran has been making excellent products for a very long time and is well respected in the GT40 community and elsewhere. Personally, I liked the CAV product because of the stainless steel chassis. Exquisite welds and craftsmanship. Not sure if it's still...

    NOS Pirelli CN36's

Hello Gents, bit of a weird one here. In going through a very large inventory of car stuff there's an extensive inventory of NOS tires (about 100 or so). Mostly Pirelli along with a mix of Michelin, Avon, etc. There's 5 NOS (never mounted) Pirelli CN36's which are all 175/70/13. They have...

Best way to inquire about any CAV GT40's for sale in USA...

Jfeds, yes, it's a very limited market for good GT40 replicas. There are many good brands/sources - Superformance, RCR, CAV, etc. - however, at any one point in time it's a very limited supply. I believe demand has gone up over time as well. Movies like Ford v. Ferrari have increased the...

    Really good track-only tire.....??

Thank you Gents, those are some good suggestions. I'm really looking for some track-only/R compound tires. I have street tires that came on the car (2024 C8 stingray) which are the Michelin Pilot Sport all season I believe. The track tires would be for the 1-2 track days I might do per year...

Quick update here fellas. Picked up the 2024 Stingray and have been driving it a bit. Very impressed with the car. Unfortunately, the Seattle area dealer I left a deposit with couldn't get the car in stock for about 8 months..... I'm 56 and a cancer survivor. Not waiting 8 months. Very...
