How fast a GT can go?

Hi All Is there anything that can be learned from looking at a Ford GT a very modern well thought out car that is probably faster than most of the cars that are built or owned by members here. The shape is similar (I guess). Its a fascinating question really. You wouldn't like to find out...

Porsche G50-01 Solid Gear Change Linkage.

Hi Erik Yes I have considered cable shift and I think it probably would be an easier solution to set up. My perception rightly or wrongly is that the solid rods, uni-joints and ball joints would give me a very direct very 'solid' feel and this appeals to me somehow. But I am always ready to...

Porsche G50-01 Solid Gear Change Linkage.

Thanks Chris. I was not so sure for what ever reason I could do that set up on the right, so thats good news. Chris do you have a all rod setup? I kind of like that idea of just rods and joints and pivots.

Porsche G50-01 Solid Gear Change Linkage.

Hi All I am installing a Porsche G50-01 transaxle in my Roaring Forties GT40. The RF normally has a Audi box fitted, obviously not all of them but the Audi is the gearbox the factory sells as 'standard'. The standard position for the gear change is to the right of the driver in a right hand...

    Painting Engine & Gearbox

Thanks guys. I thought there may be some differing views on this. I guess it looks really good just after you have done it. But later?

    Painting Engine & Gearbox

Hi All I thinking about painting the engine and gearbox and I wanted to ask anyone on here who has done this what are the pro's and con's of doing this? Also what is the best sort of paint (and or what brand) to use. My preference would be a silver or metal type finish/colour but this is in no...

    GT40 Gas Caps

Thank you all for your input. Im checking out the alternatives of which there seem to be quite a few. I am looking for the flat topped ones really, as they look better and by the sound of it that is a more authentic look. So thanks again.

    GT40 Gas Caps

Hi This is directed I guess at the American members of the forum. Have any of you ever purchased anything from a company called Mustalgia? MUSTALGIA.COM Product List Has anyone purchased any petrol caps from them in the past? It is just that they seem to be perpetually out of stock. Which...

    Steering Rack lubrication

Hi Kevin I have an RF and I have just had to fill my steering rack after the original oil that was in there leaked out. I looked into it a bit on this and other forums and come up with 80W/90 gear oil. About 250 mill seemed to do it. By the way are you in Adelaide?

    Porsche G50 Clutch

Troy Thats a hell of a car your putting together. Just out of curiosity roughly what is the cost of the ARE sump? The engine mount is a after market mount designed I think for the fitting of an Ls1-2 into an old sedan. The RF chassis that I have has a massive engine bay which means I have to...

    Porsche G50 Clutch

Gday Troy I have the engine in the Chassis as we speak. And what Im looking at when I have the engine, and in particular the gearbox, as low as they can go and in an acceptable position front to back are FIVE points that have about 10mm of clearance. The area where the sump curves over the...

    Porsche G50 Clutch

I have attempted to find a post I saw some time ago but I cant find it. The post or thread explained the procedure for installing the clutch into a Porsche G50 XX and how to make use of an elastic band and gaffa tape to hold the release fork temporarily in place. Can someone help out here. Thanks.

Hi all At some stage in the not to distant future I will have to purchase a Air Conditioning Condenser. Does anyone out there know from what brand and model of car a suitably dimensioned unit can be sourced ? Or any specialty unit that may be available. Thanks.

    Rear Guards. Not symmetrical.

Thanks again Fred. You have my respect for the work your taking on there. You dont have to be that much out from one side to the other for it to be noticeable even if its only you who can spot it easily. That bit of kit on the top of the left guard is my home made contour gauge made out of...

    Rear Guards. Not symmetrical.

Hi Fred Thanks for the input its good stuff. I guess what Im looking at here is the bits of wood are clamping the foam good and proper for gluing and then your shaping it. Question, can you tell me what you are using to shape the foam with and at the risk of sounding a bit clueless what exactly...

Hi All Can any of the fiberglass experts on the forum help me out here? I am in the middle of making my own rear guards (flairs) I have made the plugs and a set of moulds from the plugs. The moulds are close to being symmetrical but not perfect and I have a little bit of asymmetry. I dont want...
