Set of four perfect condition 17inch wheels with tyres. Totally unmarked (as were spares for my, now sold, CAV GT40). Pictures below - tyre sizes are R17 285/40 and R17 225/45. Supplied new with my CAV build - but removed in favour of BRM's less than 100 miles after delivery.

Hi Steve, Like you I took the easier option (similar age to you!) and bought a factory built CAV rolling chassis and had a Ford 348 with Quaife transaxle fitted. I live just south of Cambridge (1 mile away from Duxford junction on M11) would love to see your car at some point.
Gentlemen, your help would be truly appreciated!
I have a factory built CAV running a crate Ford Motorsport 348 engine with a ZFQ transaxle. The clutch action has always been a problem taking huge pressure on the pedal, mainly I think since the angle of the slave cylinder actuation is...
Michael, yes the sill panel was taken off on my car. The problem that I had was that the bonding of the tank ends was coming unstuck - only marginally but sufficient for fuel to drip down when the tanks were full and the back of the car elevated - as when on a rolling road. I managed to find a...
Unfortunately I have had to have my driver's side tank out a couple of times too for repair. Yes, the front suspension needs to come off and the tank pulled forward. It is (I am told) pretty straight forward but not a "nice" job. The more difficult part is getting back and getting the filler...
Hi Guys,
I wonder if any UK GT40 types have any experience with companies that can repair a (very minor) leak in the tank of my CAV. I have been in contact with the SA company that produces the tank (Buck Rogers Aviation (!)) on behalf of CAV and they discribed a product called PRC which is...
You guys have all been truly amazing in both the content of your help and your willingness to provide it! Thank you all. I now have a slightly more pressing problem relating to one of the tanks not delivering fuel (despite containing much) and the other leaking fuel into the sill! (Replica)...
Hi Guys,
I would really appreciate some experienced help in getting my CAV GT40 running well. It is fitted with a 347 Boss Ford Crate engine running with 48 IDA Webers and MSD ignition and on NGK BCR8ES plugs. The symptoms that I have are that the engine runs smoothly on idle but on (very)...
Thanks Neville - very interesting, I can certainly confirm that on (attempting to ) start the tachometer needle is jumping all over the dial; something that I dont remember seeing previously. I'll try to check out the wiring as you suggest.
Thanks everybody for your input - put problem persists! I have replaced MSD distributor cap and rotor (as recommended) and there is certainly a good spark (now!) and on completion it fired up and ran fine!. Next day, early Sunday, ready for a nice drive - pushed the car from the garage not to...
Thanks Mike I will check this also - stupid question but how does the cap come off the MSD distributor? I have little access and cannot really see; is it just a push down fit or does it have some (concealed) clip or retaining feature?
Thank you Randy. I too think that the MSD box may be the problem, do you know of any way to determine if the problem is in the amplifer box or in the coil itself? The problem seems also to be intermittent which makes me think that the MSD box may be at fault (rather than the coil) - do they...
I wonder if anybody can help me, please. I have a CAV GT40 with a 348 Ford Boss engine with MSD ignition running on 48IDA Weber carbs and seem to have an intermittent problem which I beleive is in the ignition system. Sometimes the car will run fine (last time indicated 430 bhp on the dyno)...
Mark, my car is fitted with a 348 Ford Racing Crate engine which runs 48 IDA carbs and a ZFQ transaxle and a few other bits and pieces. All spec worked out with Andy who did all of the fitting from a car built by the CAV factory. The colour is silver grey with two white racing stripes. I am...
Mark,
I have had dealings with Andy Waters for a couple of years now - I bought my CAV GT 40 from him - and cannot recomend him and his team highly enough. Helpful, friendly, high standards of engineering and nothing is too much trouble.
