    Joel’s SL-C Build Thread

Just been watching from afar through this build. So clean, oh so clean Joel!

What is the largest engine that can fit in the SL-C?

Aside from Stephans build and the BMW V10 build, has anyone else built a twin cam v8? Stephan, as noted above found it to be a challenge to fit that engine.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

Not light at 665lbs but lots of power. Pretty wide and tall too.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

It's actually very close to the same size as an LS3 except the cylinder heads. The VK56 has twin cam heads and the LS7 uses push rods. This makes the VK56 heads larger and could make fitting one into a SLC a challenge. The is a thread here where the builder is fitting a Mercury Marine engine...

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

Here is a Nissan V8 based on the engine found in a Titan. It's pretty cool especially with the throttle bodies. The first video talks about the engine and the second shows the complete engine unboxed

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

Can't disagree. To me it sounds painful to listen to. I'm sure in the context of the car it's designed for its wonderful. But the v8 rumble is always a favorite.

    CamT's build thread

Can't see the reason behind doing a SLC in that extreme black.. The SLC has such wonderful lines and they would be lost in that black.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

Part of the problem with a flat plane crank motor is the larger you go, the more difficult it is to deal with vibration. Often in larger flat plane crank engines, balancing shafts are used. As well as active engine mounts. The benefits are many of course. Better exhaust scavenging and less...

Kurt H (hoffkm) SL-C build thread

When you came around the corner and the police car was there, I thought this was going to end bad. Good thing it didn't!

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

This was my thought when I first considered bidding on this project. Another thought is a good welder can inspect the car for any weld damage from shopping or just from sitting in the corner of a shop for 5 years ignored. Ignored projects in a shop often get moved around and there isn't much...

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

You have the basis for a good car. First thing I would have done before bidding was talk to RCR and ask what it would take to convert it to left hand drive. I actually considered bidding on the car (for about a second) but getting it into Canada right now was looking to be a hassle with border...

Darn, I should kept it to myself and enjoyed my fun alone!

    Access to configuration page

For those looking to configure a SLC, the link to the configuration page comes up as under construction. However if you go the the Kit Details page, at the bottom of the initial description of the kit, there is a link to the SLC Configuator that works.

A wonderful engine design. Won't ever be available to use but its fun to dream!

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

I have been watching the thread. Going to be most interesting when it’s finished.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

I wonder about the size of Mercury Racing LS7. It is about 3 inches longer and a big wider too. How much modification to the chassis would be required? The cost at over 30k is substantially higher than some of the other GM crate engine options. On the plus side it comes with its own ecu and...

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

Lovely choice but at what cost? To get that engine you would pay more than the kit. But it would be wonderful.

    Hest shielding

Reading through the forums, I have noticed comments about heat being transferred from the radiator and associated cooling system into the cabin area. In surfing the web, I can across a heat shielding product that may help. I have no experience with this product. But it does look interesting...
