    NY member planning my build

I started with a GT Forte flat pack and have been making changes to suspension/bracing and front end to suit. I have not made tremendous progress, but hoping to have a few more hours a week to start up again. It is far enough along to get a good sense of the car.

Pat, Where in Westchester are you? You can pop over for a look if you like. Not an RCR build but you will get the idea. Keith

    windsor bench race

Neil, Sounds nice and have looked in a few times on your Manta Have you tried something other than a straight line with it? My combo is is for road coarse. Mostly track eventually, but I want to drive highways occaisonally to excersize the demons with my helpers. I loved my Donovan 417's. Would...

Many thanks to all for the thoughts. At this point the only parts I have squirrled away ( some not collected yet, put purchased) are the QF 850 carb , Superformance exhaust, Peterson dry sump and spares, short water pump, assortment of fittings, braided hose, full assortment of ARP...

    New GT40 build - GT40 Forte'

Agreed. It was relayed to me that the brace in the sill or side pod, however you refer to it, should be flipped as the direction of the "v" would increase the possibility of of a penetration to the drivers tub. I imagine that seeing the front of a SUV trying parking on top of your head may more...

    New GT40 build - GT40 Forte'

The large "v" on the sills are advised to flip to the opposite direction for impact precautions. Since you have not welded them in yet, you may want to flip them. I have not gotten there yet, as mine are fully welded in with the middle brace as you have. I will likely cut them out and re-weld...

    New GT40 build - GT40 Forte'

Looking good. I'd get it on the table soon and weld it up sooner that later. Also, you may want to consider flipping the sill pod brace.

    Starting a GTForte Build

I'd consider myself ahead of the game if you got the flat pack and it is all there. GT Forte has not really been on the top of the service list for those that have gone down that route. My chassis is built up from a flat pack and modified to fit my intentions and wants. The steel is not bad...

Thinking of what I want out of this motor. I have almost no practical experience with Ford motors, or an endurance motor. The basic Plan: Aluminum block ( 408" stroker) Bore : 4.030 Stroke: 4.100 Rod; 6.250 CR: 11:1 AFR 195cc head Roller cam/rockers Needle cam bearing 4 stage dry sump Forged...

Active Power MKII rear clip and duck bill

I pretty much figured my rear clip was an odd one. When sold to me I was told it was a splashed from an original, but many questions arose as I looked at it deeper. I did see a similar rear clip that was found a few years ago on an original. it is very similar to the "Salt" Walther...

    front transition chassis detail

I am not a fan of how the Forte front bracing works and panels look. The goal is to make the front a bracing removable and look a bit more correct, but first i needed to get up the nerve. Out came the grinder and off it came. Will be mocking up the transition and suspension as time allows.

    X-ray and Welding Magnesium Wheels

I took an 11 month absence from the chassis and starting to get back in it. During the time off, I found some original magnesium Halibrand wineglass rims. I need to get them cleaned up and checked. They need a few minor welds to correct them, but want to make sure they are worth going the extra...

    front transition chassis detail

One of the details i think is missing from most space frames that i would like to replicate is the fuel filler shelf to shock tower /oil cooler recess above the foot-well. I have been watching and rereading Jack Falla's rebuild , and like the way he added the transition, but I would like...
