15' wheel slick tires

I have actually 17' BRM Vintage Wheels on my car but also ordered 15' wheels for track usage in original version.

I am looking to find out what type of slicks I could place (they are 8 and 10').
Its a standard GTD model (so no Gulf flares on the back).

The other alternative is to go for the Avon's but wonder if 235 front and 285 back would fit on standard GTD version.

Any idea (i remember discussing this with the UK friends)?

On my GTD I have 8 and 10 inch wide 15 inch rims. I have always used the slicks from Avon without a problem. But they do lower your ride height as the side profile is lower. They don't look as period as the Goodyear Bluestreaks but those tyres may not fit a standard GTD off the shelf. Check carefully. Some have used them but I am not sure if they have work done to make them fit.

The avons I used are 23.5 front overall diameter and 26 inch rear diameter (I think). The rears were about 11-12 inches wide. But they really were sticky and you can take a LOT of time off your lap time with slicks. More more than by engine boosting. Cheapest way to go quicker in my books is to get stickier tyres.

Tx for feedback.

Do you still use them, could you get the right dims of Avons used (front and rear)as this sounds pretty much what I am looking for.
Note: Using today 17' wheels (rim front 8 and rear 10) and will have same wheels in 15' (vintage wheels from US).Actual tires on 17' being Micchelin Pilot Sport
front 235/40-17
rear: 285/40-17

Contact rogerkrausracing.com for vintage racing tires they have just what you looking for. I talked to Roger yesterday about tires for my car (MK V P1097) and he was very helpfull.

Frank,

I was futher progressing with Goodyear when they were in Spa during the RMU Vintage racing event last weekend (old F1 and Old GT racers).

This is Martin's car I assume but does he has same rims and standard GTD body dimensions (no Gulf flares) on the back ?

If so, could I have tire dimensions or product type and potentially used tires for sale to test on my car ?

Once again I appreciate your ongoing support since all these years for guys like me on the continent.

Ellis,

Tx for your support but I am afraid shipping costs and taxes from Us into Belgium for 4 tires will not make this deal financilally speaking acceptable for me and using the know how only from your source would not be correct from my part.

But thanks for your help and this incredible forum of knowledge.
