Backyard GT40 kitcar

Hi, My father pasted along his kitcar to me. His backyard lawn furniture. And well I plan to rebuild this baby. It in my garage, but I don't know where to start. I need a new engine, plenty of bodywork and a complete intereior. Pretty much all thats good on this car is the shell. I could really use the help with good engine selections, mounting techniques, and engine cooling techniques. My dad had a superbettle VW engine, he blow it three times, the problem was over heating. I would rather go with a ford small block if it works. A few hundred horsepowers would be great. I know that these are very general question, but I'm just starting out and am open to any suggestions. Thanks !!

Thanks for the reply. And yes I can get a picture up in a few days. And also the manufacter, at least I think so. I have to go to the ministry, cause my fatherr lost him ownership. Is there anywhere on the car that would show the manufacter name?

Your right it is a Fiberfab Avenger GT-12. Would a mustang 5.0 L fit in the back. WOuld I be able to mount the engine. I figure some welding would be required. The problem I think that I will have is converting a front engine into a rear. Are there any good books are this type of conversion.

I doubt it could be done. There are a number of problems. The VW engine is air-cooled, the chassis is probably not up to it, the transaxle wouldn't take the torque so you'd have to replace that, and you'd probably have to upgrade the brakes and suspension. And then you still end up with something that only kind of looks sort of like a GT40. I don't think it's worth the effort. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Put it back together with a VW engine and enjoy it for what it is.
