body suspend for storage

Has anyone tried to store their fiberglass body suspended from the ceiling while working on the chassis? If so, please let me know how you did this, or share any other body storage ideas? I have a 2-car garage I am using just for this project.

i did it with both my ffr roadster and coupe. used a canoe hoist to lift the bodies into the ceiling. just make sure you properly brace the body to avoid flex

I made a rack and hang the front clip using the bobbin mount slots. The rear I stand on the front flat edge and just put it against a wall in the garage with a safety strap to keep it from being knocked over.

You could fit a new roof on your garage that has attic space. But that's OTT for most people.

Thinking of doing this same thing. Any pics of them being supported and suspended? I am looking to suspend a MK1 front and rear clamshells.

I also ran across HoisterDirect for similar kinds of hoists for sailboats, truck caps, etc.

Depending on when the body was made, you could create warpage hanging fiberglass like that. Also, not sure how high your garage ceiling is but the rear clip is very large and heavy. I would not want that hanging above me or my cars. Hence, why I stand mine in the corner.

I had zero issues with warpage on both my FFR MK4 and Daytona coupe. Both bodies were hanging like that in the ceiling for more than a year each.

My MKIV (gt40) body is arriving next week. Once I see what the components are, and how much they weigh, I'll either hang them or stand them at the back of the garage

I am going to make an RCR with limited floor space. I used to design and manufacture racking and have a couple of these wire decks I will suspend with the nose and tail using a house. Other panels I have shelf space.
Tail 100lbs
Doors 25 lbs each
Rockers 15 lbs
Roof 40lbs
