Clutch Recommendation Please

What clutch manufacturers are you guys using with a LS3/480, Porsche G96 combo? I am currently using a Spec clutch and am interested in upgrading.

My setup is not the same as yours but somewhat similar: SBC + G50. When I rebuilt my engine last year I upgraded my clutch with a metallic puck disc from California Motorsports. I replaced the original Porsche organic disc to get a higher torque rating. It isn't too bad on engagement since it includes a spring center and Marcel to smooth the inititial bite.

We use a modified BMW 9" (240 and tweeked for extra clamp) -- good for about 400 hp
Not much room in the bell for anything else and the spline is a bastard as well
We have used a quarter master 7 1/4" triple plate, ( for competition only) special splined hubs had to be made for the plates and then positioning them to be all on the input shaft was a challenge
A twin plate would be better with a single splined hub for the plates to run on
You would most likely need to find a custom clutch maker for your application
Or use a better gearbox
Ooroo! and good luck

Does any one know the part number for a SPEC clutch that is in my car. It is an LS3 mated to a G96-01 trans with a GBOX adapter. It appears to have a SPEC stage 2 in it now. SPEC's website isn't very informative and the current pressure plate's only marking is a #5 on its flange.

The input shaft of the gearbox should be 15mm dia. spigot and ~15/16"(24mm) dia. 23 spline - "CHECK" this first!
Then look for an Audi 9" (240 mm dia.) clutch plate and a clutch pressure plate to suit the clutch plate and flywheel
To upgrade from what you have will probably need a clutch specialist to custom make something like Bill has suggested
