Damper SFI rating

Can anyone tell me what the SFI rating on a damper is all about? Is the damper required to be SFI rated to attend track days? I am accumulating parts for my engine and would like to avoid paying for something I don't need or having to shell out a second time for the right/rated part.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers, Gus.

SFI rating on a damper is essentially, no cast iron. Steel on steel, alloy on steel or something similar so no explosions.
Mainly for drag racing in the US where most sanctioning bodies won't allow cast dampers or flywheels if your car is capable of runing above a certain ET.
Seems they don't want their paying guests decapitated by flying shrapnel.
No accounting for some folk !

If you think your engine is going to see more than 6000, intentionally or by accident , then use SFI
