Dash shape

I have seemed to have the worst of most of the quality of parts from AK, I know a few people here also have had some similar but different issues on any of the fiberglass parts.

But my dash does seem to make a dipped uni brow in the middle above the gauge area. Anyone else's not straight above the gauges?

Lee Dawson has better ones. You can contact him directly.
He might have one thats sharper like the originals. Or, just cut and repair it to better sharper edge.

If you can wait a bit I can ship you my new prototype. I straightened out the dash, made the gauge pods bigger and eliminated the vents on top. Pulling molds now.

Hi Douglas, a few pics of the process we used on my RH dash. I hope the pics help. Cheers, Adrian

Good morning Douglas and Devin, I used a HB body epoxy 989 to seal it, then HB body high build primer 534 and finally used 2k satin black from MIPA. Hope that helps. Regards, Adrian

My dash was very similar. I don’t know if it was pulled out of the mold too early or if the mold was made from a dash that has spent its time out in the sun a lot, but I had to cut mine as well and open up in the end. it came out well.

I collected my dashboard at the AK Open day at the weekend and looks the same as others. There is a slight hump on top but I though that was to accommodate the larger central gauge.

I came here looking at where it might need some minor trimming, but I am inspired by Adrian's work.

Yeah, mine makes a frowns face lol. Still haven't touched it. It is very thin in areas, like transparent thin. One I get the roof welded in place I will trim it to fit and start the rhinoplasty.

Pictures of our dashes both LHD and RHD versions.
Both are arrow straight along the dash top above the gauges.
We invested large amounts of time and money into the master plugs back in 1990 before making molds not just for the dash but the entire body
