Decoding 289 Engine

Hello.. please can the knowledgable help me decode this 289? It's come from a very reputable source, said to be an original GT40 motor and carries block code C5AE-601E and engine number 5H17F. I'm eager to know if someone can decode please? Thanks.. Andrew

Six bolt production 289 block, made fom 65 through to 67. Cast August '65 I think. Does it have HiPo caps? If so it could have been in a GT40 but is unlikely to have been anything to do with the race program. What heads does it have?

1965 289 first year of 6 bolt bellhousing castings

its also a hipo block which has beefier mains. Look in the lifter valley and it should have 289 cast in there. Also look for an orange paint swatch on the rear face of the block although sometimes its on a flexiplate or flywheel.

5H17F - built 17th feb 1965.
