Detroit Tour

My wife and I made the trip to Fran's today. He was almost as pleasant as the dog and is receptionist Vicki. Many thanks Fran for your valuable time and hospitality. First, his shop is awesome, and his shop "to be" will be amazing. If you are truly interested in purchasing a car, I can tell you that the trip is invaluable. It helped me determine the exact car, engine, transmission, options etc. I am truly impressed with the car and with RCR. I am also grateful to my wife for traveling with me to Detroit on Valentines Day so I could go gaga over a car. At any rate- thanks Fran. By the way- the 25%discount for ordering the day of the tour is great incentive! wink

As I looked at the options, I wanted a rear body that covered the entire rear of the car (actually, my wife did). I wasn't a big fan of the rear diffuser allowing all the rear end to show. Thus, I went with the street tail, as it covers the entire rear end. The problem is that you cannot have a wing with this body- although there have been a few builders who have mounted a wing onto the body. Fran suggested that since the rear wing develops as much as 1000 pounds of downforce, it would be better to be attached to the frame. If a wing is connected to the frame, the street tail body cannot open as the wing is in the way. So, Fran suggested a wing that is removable that mounts onto brackets that connect to the frame. 4 pins are removed, the wing comes off, and the street tail opens. As we discussed this, he said he had the idea for some time. He will have #1, and I'll get #2. Because I am vain and I lack any level of self esteem, I suggested to him it be called the Fling Wing.

Sounds great! I have been looking for an idea on a similar chassis mounted wing
for the race tail. Guess I'll wait & see what Fran comes up with.

I think as the instigator in this, the "Fling Wing" is perfectly named!
