Can enyone tell me if an exhaust made for a gtd by tony law will fitt a kva type c /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The engine is a 72' 302 on a Zf transmission Type 5ds-25-2

Oliver,
I haven't got an exhaust yet
so i must get one
but tony law makes exhausts for gtd's
and he sayd that he didn't know if it would fit on a kva because of the barr over the gearbox

Frank

Sorry Frank, i thought that you have already one.
have you a rear pic of your KVA chassis?

if you want, i have some pictures of mine GTD.

you can contact me in PM if you want.

Frank.
It will depend on how you have mounted your ZF. Have you lowered the engine and have you altered the crossmember above the gearbox? If so I don't think the GTD system will fit, the tail pipes will be too low.

Here's somthing to think about. If you use the primary pipes and the collectors as thay came from GTD, but cut the muffler off the collectors and use a different muffer you can change the angle of the exaust from the input to the muffler on back.

I did this with a small cut off wheel and the collectors came off real nice. I then squared the end up and welded them on to a set of 3 inch indivudal mufflers. It came out real nice.

This will allow you to fit the output pipes from the muffler to the rear bodywork and should solve the fit clearance issue. You will want to primary pipes as close to the motor as possible anyway to keep them away from the bodywork. The muffler is the thing to worry about and the ends of the output pipes as they exit the bodywork.

You will need to mock this all up, their isn't really any other way.

I'll have a look at it
I'm getting the car next weekend so i can do the math
but i was looking and informing so if i've got the car in my garage i could order the exhaust

this story will continue
i'll try to put the pic's i've got on this weekend

Here are a couple of pictures of my Tony Law custom made system. I had to take the car to him. My car has a ZF and the engine has a 6 1/2" sump that sits flush with the bottom of the car. you can see how close it sits to the top of the gearbox.

Frank,

When you want to post photos and have no other webspace available you can do so by initiating a post and using the "Instant UBB Code" menu on the post authoring page. It appears right below the text box where you type in your post.

You need to know where your file is located and click on the "Image" hyperlink (upper right corner of the selections). This will bring up another text box where you can enter or browse for the file location. Either type it in or browse for it, hit enter, and voila the photo is attached.

If you have them stored somewhere else on the internet, you should use the "URL" hyperlink and enter the web location for the picture in the text box.

That should do it. Hope I didn't confuse you.

Frank,

That looks close but doesn't seem to be a file name- it appears to be a directory. You need to enter the specific file name.

That said, I didn't actually follow my own instructions. Free advice may only be worth what you pay for it. Somewhere, sometime, someone put up a thread about this... Try the search function.

Frank-

My mistake. Type your post and before you're done, check the box which says "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file."

When you're finished typing, submit the post and you'll get the review screen. Just below the box with the preview of your post on it, you'll see another box with "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 350000 bytes please)." with a Browse button next to it. THAT is where you locate your file and then submit it.

Sorry for the bad lead.

Chris

Sorry for the late reply
But I've got the car !!!
I picked it up yesterday
We drove all day to denmark and back again (total 24 hours ,could be on le mans )
So i did have a better look now and....
The exhaust is the least off my worries.
First i have to work on the fittings off the bodyshell
Some parts are to short at one side (they did cutt to much off ) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
and otherparts does'nt seem to fitt to ,so thats the first thing to do and the exhaust come's later

Smashing foto's by the way i'll hope that mine will look as asome as your's
i'll try to putt some pics now
