F1 perished heroes

Still... :(

I was going to post a list of my own but that would be disrespectful to those I missed. They were all beacons in what can sometimes be a somewhat dark and mundane world.

Can anyone tell me what the Plaque at Jim Clark's old school says about him? I used to know it but can't find it now.

Tim.

Sad as hell.

I am not too impressed with the sensationalistic nature of this video.....replaying gory scenes in slow motion makes me question motives.

I suspected it was something like that. That's why I didn't click on the link.

yes, Is really sad.
yesterday night, after my post here..I was nearly tempted to delete that, but then I think is just a way to remind how can some heroes live for a BIG passion.

...and then I go on watching youtube tributes until 4 am...

cannot really link the Gilles tribute, here in Italy he is still so alive and loved (when I bought my shop as old garage I found a BIG vintage dirty poster of him..and I saved that..cause so deeply from the 80s,really impossible to trash)..as well as nearly unknown and unlucky Riccardo Paletti...:(

Maybe is really better today F1...can be so boring to death...

That is absolutly disgusting and NOT a fitting tribute to those fine and brave men.
I got part way through before I realised the sort of video it was. HORRIBLE.
Someone has compiled a gorefest under the pretence of a tribute.
I hope this thread is deleted soon.

To remember these guys is fine, and something more respectful to their memory is surely to be encouraged. But whoever put this together has NOTHING to do with the decent people of the motor racing world. ALL these guys were heroes and their memory should be honoured.
Paulo, yes I think it should be deleted.

I was a close as a paying customer could be when Clay Regazzoni crashed at Long Beach ending his career. I will forever remember the absolute silence from the fans in the adjacent grandstands. I swear there was complete silence from thousands of people for what had to be a full minute. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was sure they had witnessed a death. There were no announcements for the rest of the race concerning his fate and I had to wait hours to hear on the radio that he had survived. Many people simply left, I heard a few crying and all were shocked and subdued for the rest of the race. Absolute sadness fell over us all in a instant.

When the winning driver toured the track in the back of a pick up as is often done there were none of the usual cheers. All had there heads down.

When Gilles was killed I didn't watch TV for a week. I just couldn't bear see a replay. I have never seen that crash to this day. I pray I never do.

I guess what I am trying to say is real race fans don't go to the track to see this sort of thing. People who love this sport sit there lap after lap always silently praying for the drivers they admire. To win the race in which no one gets hurt.

God bless these men who have the courage to chase their dreams. So few of us do.
