GT40 Frappr - anyone interested?

Hi Folks,

I thought it might be fun to set up a Frappr for everyone's cars. If you don't know what Frappr is, it's a website that allows you to set up a group and have anyone in the group place themselves on a Google map. Each pin in the map can include a picture and comment. I've attached an example below of all the folks that listen to the This Week In Tech podcast. Here is the link to Frappr:

http://www.frappr.com

Note that this covers the entire globe, not just the US and you can click on the push pins to get any info that the user may want to include.

So, I had a couple of questions/comments, foremost of which is what do you think?

It might be cool to set up one Frappr map for each mfg of gt40s, but I have not set up any maps yet (it's free) because I wanted to get your feedback first.

One thing to consider is that you probably don't want to include a user name that could be traced back to you to avoid us simply creating a map for high end auto thieves to use. With Frappr, you pick your name, and no email address is used. e.g. RF129 @ zip 60188 ). Note you may want to use the zip of a nearby major metro rather than your small town.

So I will be happy to set this up if there is any interest.

Best Regards,

Al H.

This sounds like a great idea. I found one trying to find bar-be-que resturants in my area. They are real neat items. I would like to see one of owners of GT 40s maybe with email address. This way when traveling we could find someone near or on the way to the destination and could hookup with them and maybe find out some info on the local area, or just talk GT40s with them, or plan get togethers for their local area. Count me in which ever way it goes.

Hi Bill,

It's now available - http://www.frappr.com/gt40s

Also, Ron has kindly pinned a post with additional info in the "All GT40s" forum.

Regards,

Al H

P.S. once you zoom in to the desired level, you can quickly pan around by just clicking and holding down your mouse and dragging in the desired direction.
