gt40 registration

Do any of you guys in the UK have an experience of registering a GT40 replica under a 1970's car such as the Ford Mustang. This route will bypass the dreaded SVA.

Don't do it, apart from being illegal, when you get found out, they will force you to have a "Q" plate. That means you'll never be able to put a period registration on the car.
Is the car already built or do you need to register a pre-SVA car?
If it's not built yet (or being built) the SVA is not to be feared, as long as the car is put together sensibly, a GT40 can be put through SVA (I think Paul Walton's the man with the know-how here)

I think it should be said, we have some experiance with this here in California, that attempting to avoid the registration rules isn't in anybody's interest.

My advice would be to follow the proceedures thur to conclusion and stay within the law. Fixing a problem with a screwed up regisration will be far worse than whatever the legal process is to begin with.

There is always the risk if people try to be too clever, that the laws could be changed so that NO car other than that built by an approved manufacturer will be registered. The bureaucrats would see this as an easy fix, and we would all suffer. Regards

Unfortunately Norman I think your prediction will come true. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif As I mentioned in my build thread, a very senior member of QLD RTA, that I had a conversation with, made the comment "too many ICV's were being built" and his goal was to make all manufacturers of replica cars "compliant". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/censored.gif If Qld went down that path it would mean huge expenses would be incurred by the replica manufacturers, to the extent that some may think the expense not worth it. And if they did make the effort to become compliant, all the cars they built would have to be exactly the same, leaving little to the individuals choice other than the paint scheme.

I love bureaucrats... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bash.gif

Syed,
What you propose doing, is effectively 'ringing' a car.
If the authorities found out, they would be quite within their rights to confiscate your car and crush it. Dont think im joking, its happened to many before!
