GT40 Replica as a Daytona Prototype

Hey everyone, as I was watching the Speed Channel trying to "Fill" for the rain delayed Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with a piece on the Daytona Prototype class, I was quite impressed with how many more cars there were this year. Especially the Crawford car which I have followed since they first introduced an SRP1 car around 5 years ago. I went to their digs near Charlotte, NC and was pleasantly surprised at how cordial both Max and Jan were. They have a bit of link to the GT40 world as they actually have the Mark II molds that Lee Holman uses. But I digress. I also noted the variety of engines that were powering these cars: BMW, Chevy, Pontiac, Ford Modular, Lexus and Porsche.

Suddenly, I thought, "I wonder if a GT40 replica could fit in the specification for the GrandAm DP class?" Now I have not read the spec's very closely--a very quick scan at best. So, I wouldn't even venture a guess at this point, but give it a definite "maybe." My next thought was all of you, which was quickly followed by "we could never decide which one to use!" That may or may not be the case.

Would it be cool if there was a lawyer among us who could establish some sort of syndicate, made up of those of us willing to participate, for the purpose of fielding a GT40 replica based Daytona Prototype. Wouldn't if be cool if one of the manufacturers would provide a chassis/body (this could decide the "which one" question rather quickly with no debate) to the syndicate for the publicity value. How many splitters have you made Mark? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think it could be an absolute blast if it worked out. This is just a wild hair brained thought, but what do you think?
