The launch price of the CAV monocoque is now 59,500, Im sure AC and leather seats may still cost 4000. The exhaust is stainless steel,no need to rely on george, so you still need engine and trans. This car is for the man who does not have the time or inclination to build one. However in my opinion its hard to justify a kit over a car at this price. If you want to build it, you could take it apart and rebuild it to your specs. I think there are a number of reasons for the fall in price, the demand and fords new GT40 will be a lot less, than predictions on the price that I have read on this forum.

That does seem like a good deal. I'm still actively researching and hope to pull the trigger on my kit purchase before summer is out.

Malcolm, do you have any information on the MSRP of Ford's new GT40?

Regards,
Mark

Bill Andrews at HRE told me about the price cut on the HRE. I thought the transmission was included inthe price. Am I wrong about that?

Mark: From everything I've read, the Ford will cost over 100K and will certainly have a huge markup initially. It may take some time before the prices fall back to MSRP. I'd rather go with a replica of the old one.

The lat time I checked, it did not include transmission. A/C was plus $2-3K, plus leather, plus engine plus misc expenses including engine install. Still a significant price reduction from the $63K quoted as the base price when the mono was introduced in Jan of this year

Mark, I have heard talk about the price of fords new GT40, however I dont get into speculation as that is a good way to icrease the price. Let me say this much, the talk in certain circles is that it will be well under 100,000. If this car was built by a european maker, it would be over priced. It is my opinion that the US companies give better value for the money. This is not to say that as the price of sports cars go up in europe, it tends to raise the prices in the US. I would like to see less speculation, let the market set the price.
