Hey, y'all. My car partner Dave and I received our mk 1 kit in August. We're having a blast solving little puzzles and fabricating parts where needed. We're using a Ford stroked small block and a Porsche 930 turbo trans. Our latest little issue is figuring out how to fit a water pump without it poking through the firewall. We found a so called "shorty" but are unsure what offset the pulley should have. We're going with a serpentine belt. We're prepared to put a "Gurney bump" in the firewall but would rather not if we don't need to. Any thoughts? Horace

Welcome to GT40S Horace. As Randy said, check out some of the fantastic build logs. Don’t just limit your search to the GT40S. Some of the guys building SLC’s and what not are using remote electric water pumps with good success. Take a look.

You could remove the impeller and pulley and go with an electric water pump….

Incidentally, Davis Craig now produce a Windsor specific adaptor that replaces the entire water pump, this makes the front of the engine much shorter and perfect for gt40 applications….Davis Craig adaptor
