I have looked at the CAV cars for quite a while now. Based upon what I have seen; craftsmanship & materials are first-rate. IMHO, maintenance would be directly related to the dynamics of the engine build-up. If you go with a hydraulic cam & a Holly carb, maintenance should be pretty easy. I would equate it to what would be required to maintain a 65 Mustang. Now, the equation gets a bit tougher the more wild you make the engine. If you go with solid lifters and Webers or injection, it would get a bit more complex, but not terribly so. I could see a front end alignment being real fun at the average shop, but not a big deal if you have connections at a shop that does front-end work. Other than that, the average person who is good with cars in general should be able to do most of the work.
My .02 cents
