Maintenance

I am dreaming of a CAV GT40 for a daily driver. I don't know if I can afford one though. I am wondering how much maintenance this car will require. Can anyone give me an idea?

Thanks!

I have looked at the CAV cars for quite a while now. Based upon what I have seen; craftsmanship & materials are first-rate. IMHO, maintenance would be directly related to the dynamics of the engine build-up. If you go with a hydraulic cam & a Holly carb, maintenance should be pretty easy. I would equate it to what would be required to maintain a 65 Mustang. Now, the equation gets a bit tougher the more wild you make the engine. If you go with solid lifters and Webers or injection, it would get a bit more complex, but not terribly so. I could see a front end alignment being real fun at the average shop, but not a big deal if you have connections at a shop that does front-end work. Other than that, the average person who is good with cars in general should be able to do most of the work.

My .02 cents

I'd be more concerned about insurance cost.
Most specialty policies forbid "daily use" and many
forbid the car being "unattended".
