My guess is someone broke in to the high bidder's ebay account and used the account to cause a bit of trouble, including placing a high bid on the GT40. (looking at the biddder's feedback for the 5th, something strange happened on that day). The previous high bid for the car was $230,000, but that was probably below the reserve.

Poking around a bit further, the seller has listed twelve cars on ebay recently, not one of them (except for the above car) met the reserve.

This time it had a high bid of $165,100, but it didn't meet the reserve. The high bidder in this auction was the same person who was the second highest bidder with a bid of $230,000 in the previous auction.

Looking at the bidding history of the previous auction, my guess is that their reserve price is $275,000. But no one is offering them anything like that on ebay.
